4G on the S3 is actually HSPA (or 3.5G what ever you guys call it) | Quote:

There's only one CM10. However, people sometimes will take a CM10 base, and add their own touches. They will name it something else, so that you don't get confused with "stock" CM10.
There are a ton of ROMs, especially for our phone. The only way to find the best is to try them all and see what works best for you. But CM10 is probably the closest thing to AOSP you'll get on our phone (except NexusMod ROMs).

It seems like mine only vibrates and has a notification light. In short terms, kinda like iphone | That feature is probably app dependant (at least for TW). If you're using handcent, you can wake the screen upon receiving a SMS. CM10 may allow you to do it with all notifications, but that's probably "ymmv" territory with whatever ROMs you end up trying/using.
May I ask why you would want to do that? I have my LED flash a different colour for each different notification, so I know what came in without having the screen turn on. And if you receive a ton of stuff on an hourly basis, that's a lot of screen time dedicated to just notifying you (and thus, battery life).
To each their own I suppose.

There's a setting on that ROM to manually override LEDs, look for it!

Anyone help me out with unlocking the S3?
I bought a code from cellphoneunlocker but none of the input methods work?
[spoiler] Quote:
How to Enter Unlock Codes on all Samsung Models
Different phones have different Unlock Code Input Instructions, Try the following Instructions in Order:
Method #1 Insert a Non accepted simcard in your phone and power on. Once finished loading your phone will ask you to enter a code, enter the Unlock Code
Note: Non Accepted Simcard is any simcard not from the original provider
OR
Method #2 Go to the dial screen on your phone as if you are going to make a call and press: #7465625*638*UNLOCKCODE# (8 digit unlock code)
OR
Method #3 Go to the dial screen on your phone as if you are going to make a call and press: #0111*UNLOCKCODE# (8 digit unlock code)
OR
Method #4 Go to the dial screen on your phone as if you are going to make a call and press #7465625*638*# Once prompted for code, enter the 8 digit Unlock Code.
If Phone says, "Code Accepted" or "Network Unlock Successful" or "Not Yet Personalized" your phone is fully Unlocked
*If you are not receiving any signal after unlocking, make sure your wireless connections are turned on after unlocking the phone. Also pull the battery and restart phone.
How to Enter Defreeze Code for "Phone Freeze" Samsung Devices (only if your Samsung is Hard locked)
1.Input a non-accepted simcard into the phone.
2.Proceed to the dial screen.
3.Enter the defreeze code (Freeze code) and press enter, or okay.
4.The screen should now ask for the unlock code (Network Code). Enter the 8 digit unlock code and hit enter.
OR
1. Turn phone on with an unaccepted simcard
2. Screen will display “Phone is freeze / SOS”
3. Type the unfreeze code (Nothing will show on screen)
4. Hit the “Enter Button”
5. Phone will ask for the Network lock code
6. Enter it as you have received it
7. Phone will be unfreeze and unlocked
How do I know my Phone's Network is Fully Unlocked?
Go to the dial screen on your phone, and press *#7465625#
A menu will be displayed that will resemble the following...
1. [ ] Network lock
2. [ ] Subset lock
3. [ ] SP lock
If everything if OFF, then your phone is fully unlocked.
| I don't have a unaccepted sim yet (gonna buy one in india) but none of the codes are working.
The code to check phone's network lock/unlock status doesn't work, and input method's 2,3,4 don't work.
The message I keep getting is that it's an 'incorrect MMI or connection error'
Help?

Old habits die hard from iPhone. Sometimes if texts me like "where are you" then I see it but I was busy and can't reply yet and just don't even bother to unlock my phone and just shove it back in my pocket. I'm not used to the LED thing yet, I would rather have the screen flick on rather than the LED. Just me |

Help? | Probably said this three times already. You need to put in a foreign sim before you can enter the code. No other method worked for me.

^ wicked ping there lol. But you aren't on LTE so you won't see the speeds that some of us are getting. Either you have an international model phone or your plan isn't LTE enabled or your APN settings aren't set correctly.

U guys know of any new TW based rom | Yup all those TW features like Motion, anything in the upcoming Premium Suite, dialer, messaging, etc are all gone.
I've been looking for a TW ROM as well, but tbh rooted stock is hard to get away from for me. I just want the damn clock in the middle, and extended power menu. Over the break I may take apart the stock rom and add my own personal touches since what I want are very minor.
Of course by virtue of stating it I won't get around to it |

| Here's a couple: (ROM)12/9 Bertiespeed TW ICS & JB (TELUS Based) - xda-developers ROM - (Stock TW JB) JellyBean747 Milestone 7 Graystone Edition - xda-developers
But tbh, they don't look too polished (i.e. they have stuff added but it looks like they're still working out kinks).
If you're not looking for anything specific, just stick to TW+root.

Hey guys,
Just checked back a few pages and couldn't really find anything to help me out:
I want out of Rogers and on to Wind. Don't care about LTE right now, I just want an Android, specifically a GS3. They've dropped in price on ebay etc, but in my extensive research I've learned there are MANY variants of the GS3, specifically the international i9300 version versus the US/CAN versions. And even in the US the Sprint and T-mobile versions are different.
Can I buy any version and have it unlocked and work on Wind? Or does it have to be originally from a specific carrier?
Another thing that appeals to me is Cyanogenmod, which gives you Jellybean 4.2 (?) and access to basically everything that is on the Nexus 4, including the photosphere camera etc. But apparently it can only be installed on the i9300 which has a quadcore processor. They are still quite expensive. Would it be worth getting this phone, would I notice a difference if I had them side by side?
Keep in mind, I'm moving out of an iphone 4 (not 4S) so anything will be faster I realize, but I want to make the right choice. I realize I could wait for the GS4, but who knows for sure when it would come out, and frankly, I'm sick of my iphone, and my expensive Rogers plan.
