Just as I thought. Not a "read" notification.
That's correct but people use the last seen to assume the person has read it.

You sent a message at 1:04pm. Person came was last seen 1:32pm. They must have read your message, otherwise you're being ignored.

ok so I just received my S3 back from warranty repair and got a little not saying "Your IMEI must be blocked by T-Mobile. Please call 611 from any phone to ask how to unlock"

put in my Wind sim card it all seems to be working though, calls go through texts go through.....

my biggest problem though is fucking Google... I synced everything, contacts and everything numerous fuckin times before factory resetting and sending the phone in for repair.... now when I log into my Google acct and try to sync everything back it says There are NO contacts to sync......

So for some reason I can't access my VM, it keeps telling me I have the wrong password. I changed the PW on Fido.ca still no go. Is there anyway to get in the S3 and change the VM number for Fido?

open your dialer and go into settings. voicemail number is in the settings and it should be +17783175607.
or u can save the trouble and dial the number i just gave you directly and see if "voicemail" show up as the person you are calling.

i think you should call fido to help you out though.

I want to know what the charging times with the stock charger that came with the phone is. I've just noticed that it either fucking sucks or somethings wrong. I've done testing for 3 days now with the following results using 3 different chargers.

All tests I charged for 2 hours

Stock Charger through wall outlet - Charged 27%
Stock USB through PC - Charged 40%
Wall outlet charger for my Playbook - Charged 88%

The Playbook charger time seems normal to me, about 2 hrs and change to charge 100% from 0% sounds right. The other 2 sound retarded and abnormal.

My other question is and yes I've googled but see so many different opinions is if I use my Playbook charger or any other charger, is it really bad for the phone?

^Are you using the phone intensively while charging? I had a similar problem, my I/O port had a faulty connection and they ended up giving me a refurbished phone. As far as using other chargers it should be fine as long as it provides the same current.

I can usually get a full charge in 3 hours or so with the stock wall charger. USB through PC is a slug. Probably takes me 5 hours for a full charge.

If anything bad was going to happen with the playbook charger it would have happened right when you plugged it in.

Tablet chargers are usually 2 amps, but phones usually only draw 1 amp (it's not a problem to charge a lower amp device with a higher amp charger).

However, I wonder if the S3 and newer smartphones are capable of drawing a higher amperage at charge?

Not using my phone at all actually and now I wonder if the charger has always been like this. Typically I'm charging before I sleep and when I wake up it's always 100%. It wasn't until recently I've had to charge it for like 30mins - 1 hr quickly before I headed out again that I noticed wtf that did nothing and started looking into it.

I suppose even if using a higher current charger the only thing it will be bad for is the battery itself and not the phone right?

For me I usually don't use a different rated charger.

I had a similar situation as yours. My phone would constantly disconnect from the computer and barely had a current for charging. I took it to the Samsung repair Centre and they replaced my phone eventually. Faulty i/O port can't be fixed without replacing other major components I believe

The figures are not from 0%

Percentages stated is the amount of battery I gained from a 2 hour charge.

Then that is your reason.

Lithium ion batteries do not charge like Nicad and Nimh batteries. For Nicad and Nimh batteries, these will charge linearly with a constant current input. For lithium ion batteries, they charge with a constant voltage input. For lithium ion batteries, the charger will start pumping out maximum current into the battery when the battery is empty. But once its about to get full, the current actually drops down as it gets closer to 100%. In other words, it will charge faster when the battery is near depleted but will charge slower near the top.

Which is also why you can use the 10W charger from an iPad to charge phones (phones usually use 5W chargers). The charger is "smart" so it knows when to throttle down the current input as it reaches the top so it doesn't damage the battery.

Hey my dad picked up an S3 overseas.
His camera doesn't work. Did some searching online and apparently its a warranty issue they would replace it. Will Samsung Canada do anything or should I seek out someone locally to fix it?

Looks like the phone does pick up more amps I think.

Just did another test by charging the phone for 30 mins using the PB Charger and the Stock Charger. Both times I dropped the battery down t 40% even.

PB Charger charged phone up to 60% in 30mins
Stock Charger charged up to 50% in 30 mins

Your right though, I charged the battery again later in the evening with the PB charger and as it got up in battery life it was charging ever so slowly.

Sounds about right. PB charger is 10W, no? It should pump more juice at 40% compared to the stock 5W charger. But above 90%, I would say that both chargers should charge at the same rate.
