I won't let you use a helmet if I know it's date stamped older than 2000. It's more of an insurance stipulation than anything. We have stinky loaners if you need a helmet. :)

Thanks! So helmets are only "good" for 10 years?

For autoX and trackday purposes, the helmets need to be within a specific snell rating. For 2012 VCMC, and UBCSCC require the helmets to be snell 2000 and newer.

Rule 4.3.1 in the SCCA rulebook, helmets have to be current and 2 previous Snell standards. So 2015 when the new standard is out, then helmets have to be 2015, 2010, and 2005.

Quick! Need a good place to buy an inexpensive Snell-approved helmet tomorrow! I have a feeling that the loaner helmets won't come in my size since I have a big head.

Closer to Surrey the better thanks!

I usually wear a XL
and have used loaner helmets for 2 events before i bought one

you can check out motorcycle stores like baysideperformance for a cheap HJC helmet

My head usually constitutes a XXL, even size 8 fitted hats barely fit on my head.

SumAznGuy 04-06-2012 06:14 AM

Go to any motorcycle shop and TRY on the helmets first.
Not every person's head is the same and different brands fit differently. I can squeeze into a small or med Arai but a large Shark, Shoei and Sumoy will give me a headache.

HJC is a decent brand.

Open faced helmets are usually a tad cheaper.

CorneringArtist 04-06-2012 05:25 PM

Would anyone like to pre-meet somewhere on the way and cruise in together?

SumAznGuy 04-07-2012 07:06 AM

I'll be heading down from SFU. Merging onto Hwy from Gallardi (sp?) then Mary Hill Bypass and out to PM.

Most likely, I'll stop at the McD's on Lougheed and Harris rd for some breakfast of champions and be at the front gates at 7:30 when they open.

Hurt, I went to the Porsche autox today and was super fun. Thanks Rich!

Went to sign up for VCMC tomorrow, only to find out registration is closed.. I thought it was closed at 9.

I asked to see if they are still accepting.. Hoping for the best.

CorneringArtist 04-07-2012 05:30 PM

I think I got confused with registration. I signed up for membership, but NOT the event signup on Karelo itself. Am I screwed?

Unless second place demands fairness! Btw it's me lol. I'm not angry but this really is the difference for me between 1st and 2nd. My time was 52.2xx on a clean run.

I might as well for a left turn, hit the inside cone with the right side of my bumper, cut the corner and get 2 seconds penalty but gain more.

I'm not getting all butt hurt but that's just what's going on in my head right now lol. If you really did 49.xxx, I'm not gonna do anything else but congratulate you

Btw +1 on not knowing you were on RS lol

Yeah no offense but a novice driver in an automatic corolla on run flats is not going to run a time that keeps up with some of these more experienced drivers with significantly faster cars.

SumAznGuy 04-09-2012 11:13 AM

Good job guys.

Just remember, NCT is based on your best 4 our of 6 results and things tend to even out at the end of the season.

Dragon-88 04-09-2012 11:38 AM

You guys plan on going to ubcscc event nextweek?

I might attend but I have a paintball competition the weekend after and my practice is this sunday..

Hoping to see you guys out again at the next event..

CorneringArtist 04-09-2012 12:04 PM
