Was a fantastic course this weekend, Norm really did a great job. Many places to loose and gain time and the course-walk was paramount.

I'm hoping to post my 2nd fastest time of the day when it gets posted by the car owner, unfortunately didn't record my FTD run.

Yeah that looks like a really nice setup..

My 2nd fastest run of the weekend in Carson's car. It was a pleasure to drive.

Do you guys worry about having the engine at or near redline every run? I mean yea it's a short time overall, but like, do you anything special for it? Use a better oil, change it out more frequently, etc. etc?

Lol that's why we have rev limiters. Although when I autocrossed my Z a few years back it went way past the red line (redline ~6500 IIRC and it went over 7000) and I cooked the coolant. Car was okay afterwards but yeah... didn't have a rev limiter :/

Is UBCSCC going to have any track days this year? It's not posted yet.

Rich Sandor 04-18-2012 08:48 PM

An average autos run is only sixty seconds, so it's nothing. Compared to a track day where I wind the engine up to near redline for every lap for twenty minutes at a time. Nevermind a actual race where it always redline as soon as the flag drops. I do use a heavier oil in my track cars 15/50 but that's too heavy for a daily drive in the winter. Really autocross is not that hard on your engine, just your tires.

Anyone thinking about doing the UBCSCC Autocross 101 this weekend?

Great way for beginners in the sport to learn and practice autocross with great instructors!

I'll be there on sunday for the autocross 101, thanks for the deal on helmets! might pick one up if seller is willing to sell to outside of vcmc members!

Nice!!! Give some thought to joining VCMC also. Due to the two clubs using the same pad you never have to choose between the two, it just means more possibly race days!!!

Also vcmc has their own instructional days (Velocity) coming up. Myself and other great instructors will be at both UBCSCC 101 and VCMC Velocity events

Also, there is a club practice event this Sunday (the day after Velocity):

2012 VCMC Spring Club Practice

It's only a 1/2 pad event using the BCDC side, but at $30, it's absolutely the most affordable form of motorsports you can get into!

I'm signed up for the Velocity course. I'm looking forward to classroom tonight and instruction on Saturday. unfortunately I can't make it out on Sunday, but I'll be sure to make it out for more than a few races this summer.

SCCA website has a MASSIVE PDF with all the class rulings, but you could also ask over on the VCMC forums. Most cars with minor mods get put in the ST category.

What car is it?

What car is it and what mods does it have?

Newb question... Does PCA have a membership fee?
Thanks

Rich Sandor 04-26-2012 12:29 AM

PCA is open to all cars and there is no membership requirement. We also do not class cars, so as long as your car is mechanically safe and not excessively loud, you are welcome to come out. Our next dates are May 12th and May 27th. :)

First time driving PDM Racing STS 91 CRX Si, a very well setup car. I still have a lot of room to go faster, and a lot more to learn.
