Please spread the word to other forums

Please and thank you, I'll keep it short, simple and to the point. I have already posted this on numerous Nissan/Infiniti forums I belong too, but I would ask for help from you guys who belong and are respected members of other major forums for Honda's, Mazda's, etc....
Basically I want this to get out to all the major North American forums, I would spend time signing up for each forum because I feel this information is worth all that effort, but I also think it would serve the cause even better if some of you guys who are already established and known members of these forums to re-post this up there since you have more credibility than me a guy with 1 post on some forum.

I would like firstly warn my fellow RS members about Ichiba Camber kits since they DO sell like hotcakes, these things are on some recall due to manufacturing defect level bullshit straight up.

If you guys could please help out and repost this on other forums, I would not be the only one that will appreciate it you can bet on that.
Also check back in here and post up a link to your thread so we can all see what forums it went up on.
Really thanks a lot guys, and I'm sure everyone who sees it will find this very useful information.

btw: here's my post in the tech section of just a little bit of what I had to deal with when I was taking these off http://www.revscene.net/forums/66592...ml#post7876128

repost this below here please-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would like to warn fellow members of catastrophic failures of Ichiba Camber Kits. Firstly I would like to make clear one thing, I know we are mostly all aware of "cheap eBay parts" that can fail at any time. But the reason this Ichiba issue needs to be brought up is because this specific product masquerades as a midrange to high end part (price range new is between $300 and $400) but yet the quality is worse than simple cheap eBay parts. They fail CATASTROPHICALLY, and the potential for worst case scenario there is very high, that's why I'm not the only one that feels this needs to be pushed out there. If it was some cheap eBay part people would already know to stay away, but this isn't the case, like I said they sell this as a high end component which is where the danger is.
I myself personally fell for it when I paid over $400 for it, and I'm a fairly knowledgeable person when it comes to parts and have spent a lot of money on authentic, and even some carefully picked replica parts. My very first thought when I was about to buy this kit was "Well for $400+ it's in the same price range as some of the highest end kits you can buy, so it should be safe"

My video and experience is below, but for starters here's just a handful of threads with horrible Ichiba failures that literally took me a minute to find, and this from just one Nissan forum. Pay attention to the very first thread there's some pics of a member who literally crashed his car as a result of his Ichiba kit snapping in half, he's not the only person this has happened too, there's a few members on the Nissan 350/G35 forums that have had this same exact failure, they aren't the first and if we don't spread the word, they won't be the last either.

Ichiba rear camber arms almost killed me - G35Driver

Ichiba camber arms FTL - G35Driver

Ichiba suspension parts = total garbage!!! - G35Driver

Now here are my videos I made only a few minutes long but go into full detail on this issue, very self explanatory... (sorry about the music, wasn't loud at all when makin the vid, guess the phone mic amplified the sound)

My kit failed in every way possible except breaking in half like some of these other guys out there, so I feel very lucky. But I wonder how many more cases out there are just like this, hopefully no more after word really gets out.

Lol so u went stupid and got burned. If it's in the same price range as a hiigh end brand why not go wih a legit brand. It's a car, brand name all the way. My oem stuff is from Germany I don't want china to touch shit in my ride.

2 products that cost the same, one is a legit well known brand. the other sounds like a pokemon on character.

I'm considering koni fsd for my ride. That shit is pricey. U think I'd consider some no name brands version of fsd? Pay top dollar for a no name brand. LOL

U supposed to save money when buying garbage parts not paying top dollar. And lack of research. Google is your friend. I always check stuff I'm gonna drop money on 1 minute to search avoids all this bullshit. Idiots

You went quite a bit to far with your hacksaw and ruined your factory knuckle. It may crack now as a result.

Googled "Ichiba Camber Arms"

one of the first links: Ichiba camber arms FTL - G35Driver

I'm guessing that's you from last year, why anyone active on the forums still went with them even with all these terrible reviews on these sites is beyond me...

^ thats another guy on the forum, and that was before they started breaking in half too, wasn't until a lot of them sold that people started posting pics of them snapping....

Thanks to all you guys for reposting and commenting....

as far as KArls comment, it was only a matter of time before a jackass reply was made, not gonna respond to it directly as I'm not the type to go back and forth with someone on the forum, and the last thing I want is thread derailment on something important like this, so I'm asking please nobody respond to "HotKarl"

But I will point out one thing real quick, this has nothing to do with me really, yea I'm disappointed in the product but whatever, I honestly would have never even posted this if I hadn't seen the catastrophic failures of these kits all over the Nissan forums. It was at that point that I decided that it would be a good idea to make a thread to warn others about the extreme dangers of these kits that are apparently selling like hotcakes right now, and explain why it's a bit more complicated than your typical cheap aftermarket parts story.

So if anyone wants to come at me point and laugh, it's a free country go ahead, but understand you're coming at a guy whose first thought was not to complain and reach out for sympathy because boohoo I'm out a few hundred bucks, but instead was to get the word out and help others.
I honestly even feel a little embarrased having to post my experience, I mean in comparison to all the other guy's whose kits have fuckin broken in half and crashed their cars had wheels fly off and shit.
BUT I had to make the videos to clearly expose the flaws of the product so it's plain to see, it's a lot harder getting your point across without clear evidence, and that's the only reason I added my own story to this.

^ not right away I think you guys in the 240 community knew it long ago, but when they started making kits for the VQ platform 350's and G's, it was a fresh start for them basically, and it was priced in the $300 to $450 range so that threw a lot of those guys off, everyone assumed it had to be legit at that price.

So once they started selling a lot of them is when the issues started happening, and yea like I said, if these were minor failures that you get with your typical cheap made in china eBay crap, I wouldn't have made any of these videos or posts, but they're more than typical failures which is why I feel this needs to get out, especially considering they are still selling a lot of them right now that they came down a little bit in price, still above $300... and like I said, there are these exact same arms on eBay just a different color for $100

Hotkarl chill out.

Phil yea, I took my time with the upper cut stopping and checking every few minutes, took about 20+ minutes...

but I was really pissed off when i was doing the second cut, just lost my mind a little bit kept sawing like a madman, didn't stop to check and cut into the arm.
I don't know, I don't think it's that big of a cut to cause the arm ring there crack break and fall apart but I will be checking for cracks occasionally, if even the smallest crack appears I'll just replace the whole arm, it's not that expensive for the arm, but labor is gonna be a bitch, I don't have any power tools in my garage.

this is the Kinetix spindle that went in with the new kit

Because of the design of the taper it provides a constant radial force around the bore of the hole. The sharp edges of the hacksaw score even tho only a mm deep have broken that and introduced a weak point. It will lead to premature catastrophic failure. Not tryin to knock ya or nothin just worried for your saftey. It is sometimes possible to ream the hole slightly larger and go past that score but then the spacer you have might push to far through.
I wouldnt not run this on my or any clients cars for any length of time.

^ hey you're the expert that runs a mechanical shop bro, I listen when guys like you talk.

Will definitely be on the lookout for cracks, would be kinda cool to replace that whole arm with a powder coated black one anyway, lol

If you (or anyone else) runs into the same problem, where they have to cut something like that off, I strongly suggest you leave a few mm of material, stick a chisel in there and give it a good hit. The piece will just crack and save the shaft or bore from being scored.

Yes, I realize using a press or puller (ie. stuck inner races) is ideal but sometimes when you're working in the field, you have to use what's available to you.

To bring something up from the past, but this is why I was making fun of D2 coil-overs you posted about way back when someone asked about coil-overs.

As for your current ride, you said it. A new arm isn't that expensive. Save yourself the trouble and possible head aches and just replace that arm that you cut into.

thx for the info. Glad you took those arms out before you got hurt. Glad to see no one was seriously injured when the arms failed. It sucks to see something fail so catastrophically when its in integral part to how the vehicle performs.

im glad i stick to SPC for alignment products.

yea Dipper I have the SPC rear camber kit for around 3 years on my car now, not a single issue except when I went over a huge bump one day and it knocked my toe bolt out of alignment, realigned it and all good...

sumAznguy yea the D2 coils when I was lookin at that time I didnt see any examples of catastrophic failure with them, but I never ended up getting them anyway.. there was other much more proven coilovers for the same price

dovo yea there's a couple of identical camber kits on eBay that are all made in the same factory Ichiba makes their kits at, Godspeed and some other eBay brands i forgot names
