And yea was $500 for all 3… only annoying thing is it seems like they got the coating on the windshield.. not sure how it’s applied is it a spray? So may be overspray or somthing?

Because now sitting in the car I can see the texture of the coating through the glass.. trying to see if they will polish it off or what before I recommend anyone lol..
So to follow up with this.. in b4 “you get what you pay for” etc lol..

So after driving our car home, I pretty much instantly noticed there was a film or something on my windshield, as well as the back window..

Both my wife and I noticed it instantly as something that wasn’t there prior to dropping the car off.. so went home and text the guy saying it looks like there’s overspray or something on the wind shield. He said any glass cleaner etc. should take it off.

So I tried glass cleaner, I tried even rubbing alcohol, an abrasive pad, nothing worked. The “texture” I see through the windshield is clear as day and 1000% was not there previously. So I text the guy back and said look, like I get you say you didn’t apply it to the wind shield, however, this was not there before.. so you gotta deal with this.

I bring it back the following Saturday and he polished both windshields and washed the car, basically then said “ok the car is done the rear window is fine and I think the front windshield is actually a defect”

I’m like uhh… ok… drive it home after the wash and nothing changed on either window

Fast forward now, I’ve tried everything and nothing has even removed a small amount of what I see..

Frankly I feel like either they fucked somthing up and didn’t say anything or used a wrong product on my windows.. it’s annoying enough that now I feel like I’ve gotta get a new windshield it’s that bad…

Any suggestions as to what to try to get it off? Reddit etc. says that if it’s just ceramic coating it should have come off with polishing.. but the polishing he did with a big grinder did shit all…

The company is “DTA Detailing” in Poco.. would not recommend as they did a pretty shit job with the PPF as well..

Go buy a bottle of glass polish, make sure it's polish and not cleaner. Perfect if you have a buffer but otherwise you can do it by hard, or get a pad attachment for a drill. I'm sure paint polish would work too but it might take a little longer.

Use LOW SPEED, emphasis on LOW. You can burn the glass if you go at it too hard. After you are done either throw the pad away or label it clearly as once you've polished glass you cannot use it on paint anymore.

Finish with whatever coating or cleaner you like. Make sure you clean it well.

For anyone who is into DIY'ing and a customer of RockAuto.com, I recently ordered a bunch of WIX oil filters for my cars and noticed the spin-on oil filters no longer have cellophane wrapped on the bottom where the rubber gasket is. These are Made in USA filters.

Is it a huge deal? No, not really. But it's a sign of some cost-cutting measures and potential concern for quality of products to be mindful of in the future. For comparison, factory Toyota filters (Made in Thailand) have the cellophane wrapping and a layer of grease on the rubber to prevent it from drying out. My previous orders with RockAuto for Wix filters had a cellophane wrapping on it.

How much is a wix one vs oem ?

I’ve also heard of people getting fake oem Toyota filters from eBay. Just becareful where you buy your filters from. If it sounds to good, it probably is. Some dude was selling 20 LC500/RCF filters for 10 dollars each. OEM it’s almost 20 bucks a filter now.

Very sus. Didn’t go for it.

The Wix filter was about $7.29 each (plus taxes and shipping and all that stuff.) Local Toyota dealers now wants $10. Prices are very close, but I had to order other stuff that made it worthwhile and decided to pick up some Wix filters again to change things up because EFF YOU Toyota!

Where I saved were the filters for the Boxster. Local dealer and aftermarket parts stores wanted $28. RockAuto had them for $12 each. Shipping was overall negligible.

Changed the oil on the Audi in preparation for a TSD Rally this weekend. Man I forget how weird the green coloured VW 508 oil is. Like olive oil, I swear.

Also, you bought from Rockauto and you got Wix? Why?

Well, damn. I just read that Wix was purchased by Mann + Hummel and the quality has gone down.

I don't think I'll notice a difference since I change the oil very frequently. I think I'll buy no-name brand $3 filter next time. If the engine blows, hello Alfa Romeo Giulia.

So, which filters are recommended now?

I'd go Denso for Toyota.

If you make friends with your Toyota parts guy, you should be able to buy a 10-pack from them for about $7 ea.

I'd love to make friends with a Toyota parts person but the turnover is so high, I never see the same one twice. Ever.
