Cold start - nothing he can do about it through coding. Cold start can only be changed via a tune, which I don't think you are interested in atm. A tune of any sort will almost guarantee a flag in the system and a denial of warranty on the engine and drivetrain. BMW has a new directive since iirc 2021 where when a car is being worked on in the dealer, they have to plug it in and it'll do a scan for tampering. | tried it today. it doesnt remember the last setting, it opens up with every start.
oh well.... i tried.

It never remembers. At least in the M cars we have the M buttons now so you don't have to go to every sub menu to set things up every time.

Yeah, i dont think i've ever driven a car that rmrs the last valve settings unless it's aftermarket coded.
They're vacuum valves.

We’ll have to wait and see how well they hold up from the sun and hand oils. My expectations aren’t high but I hope to get at least till the end of summer.

the only boxster/cayman ive driven are the 981/718. it drives great too but didnt feel like a special car.
maybe ARZD can put it into words better.

It was a don't meet your hero's moment for me. Which really sucked cause I had dreamed of an E46 M3 since I was a kid walking home from school and walking by auto shops that had 46M3s outside of them. Pretty sure I've seen Jing's car from back then haha.
But the E46 330ci being my initial experience, I didn't like how front end heavy the M3 feels. OTOH, the E36 M3 (and my example was a pretty shit example) was fantastic. God I miss that car haha.
The balance, weight, and engine (powerband) felt very on point to what I'm familiar with. Yes, Westopher, I just said a non-M feels the same as a previous gen M car. The 36M, while I'm not skilled enough to drive that kind of raw rwd, is like a slightly faster + LSD 330ci. Felt slightly lighter too but it must be rust weight reduction lol. I felt a lot more at home with the 36M compared to the 46M.

Idk my thoughts are not the usual car guy’s stuff.
E46 seems cool if you’re tryna learn to turn a wrench, drives pretty nice and inteeeting engine. What else are you gonna get that fits 4 people and does all this?
Boxster seems nice, Cayman is practical. 981/781 have worse steering than 9th gen Civic. You might not be entertained but they’re incredible cspsbsle and you’d get the badge; I’d buy a 987.2.
Like what else are you gonna get? A 6MT G37 instead of E46? An S2000 instead of 987?
If you’re looking for interesting drives and entertainment, I’d throw a Scat Pack on that list.
Yeah it’s front heavy but it’s super easy to slide and has trans/damping/engine is super eager.

I'd have to disagree with this, esp when the 9th gen Civic is just about the crappiest Civic built in recent history. (The other one is the 01 - 03 Civics.) I don't remember the steering being particularly good or bad, but everything else other than the K24 in the Si seem to suck based on what I can remember LOL~ And then even the K24 lost a lot of feel / character compared to the 8th gen, although the torque wave you get from the bigger displacement is nice.
The Boxster / Caymans are all so nice! Their steering is telepathic! The 987 has a better steering feel bcos of the hydraulic steering, but they are all super precise. Quote:

Yeah the 987 is really where it’s at. 981 GTS just has 0 load up or resistance even when you have track forces on summer tires.
It’s precise but there’s close to 0 feel.
