Couple of corrections: Purple Onion couldn't have been across from Dicks as it was on Water Street in Gastown. Mardi Gras > Bar fly > Standard Casablancas > Fever Dal Richards night club > ? > Diegos > Bosa condos and to show my age... 99 cent China Whites on Thursdays at Steel Monkey (if I could erase my memory on those nights Kits under the Army & Navy parkade (underage drinking) Chicago Tonights Mugs n' Jugs Coconuts > ? >? >? >? >? >?> fitness club > fitness club (history of unsuccessful bars and fitness clubs) 86th Street music and the other one across the plaza Club Soda The original Avalon in North Van Fred's & Bubbaloos Rose n' Thorn anyone remember all the names of the club on Seymour between Hastings and Cordova. It was Systems |
Shoot. Just realized I missed Brandy's as a current peeler bar in Vancouver and the old Blue Boys which is now a sports bar. Purple Onion IIRC was in the building beside the Spaghetti Factory. Where the old Koolhaus was before they went belly up. |
what was the one right by Pacific Border Crossing? |

When Cecil closed that was a big loss to Granville Street, not only was it a great peeler bar but it had a lot of interesting Vancouver history associated with it. In the seventies, before it became a peeler bar, it was the location of the founding meetings of Greenpeace. |

Anybody get a chance to go to Loft 6 before it got closed down after some Hells Angels shooting? I remember Snoop Dogg being there one night. How about Victory afterhours. On the corner of Hastings and Cambie, across from Victory Park, downstairs. woot!! :spin: |
I remember pulling up at Wett bar, valeting my uncles XJR with the valet who was in the A&W commercials and both Norm and the black dude they called "robo cop" walking us to VIP like we were movie stars. Ah, the good ol' days of clubbing. And how can I forget to mention on the roxx, the only club that let in 16 years old and offered $1 highballs, lol. |

I remember going to Onyx on opening night. They had a hawaiian luau themed party and everyone wore lei's. That was a pretty fun place. Plush was awesome to see house djs from europe. Went to barfly a couple times. Is that the one that's next to the hotel or in the hotel/casino on the corner up the hill somewhere?? I remember parking like 5 blocks away to get free parking and then having to walk up the hill drunk to get back to the car lol. Went to stone temple a few times as well. I think plush was my favorite out of all of them. Never was much of a clubber. |
oh right red room, I remember that now. There was also onyx which became pure night club I think, but both closed down now. |
onyx/pure is a gym now lol. i lived like 10 minutes from onyx, thursday nights there were fucking awesome... went there so much it got to the point where we used to just walk in through the back door. memories. |
ok...i am SUPER dating myself... Sonar was originally called The Town Pump. Changes in the late 90s to Sonar but the Town Pump was the original club/live music site. |
Anyone remember Chicago's in New West? The place was grimey as hell. It had carpeted floors. If you stood on one spot too long, your foot would stick to the ground. It was more of a bar, but they had a DJ on friday and saturday which played pretty good music. All the girls across the bridge would come :P |
