vancouvers club history ok, any of you older folks remember all the clubs since you were younger? for example, before gossip there was plush, before boss there was atlantis and before was wett bar, before fabric there was sonar... also share some memories of vancouver club history for some of the youngins. |
OZONE is now a Save on foods, or how about on the rocks which is now a Indian resturant lol Gotta love surrey bars.... |
That 'club' in Richmond behind Tim Hortons/Domo :fuckthatshit: |
Anybody remember Purple Onion? I don't even know what the Rage is called nowadays. |
Funktion Fridays @ The Big Bamboo and Daddyo's. The hydraulic cages were quite something for us when we were 19. Now, condos are on that block (the Denny's is still there though.) A few off the top of my head: - Sonar - Grande Wednesdays - Purple Onion on Saturday nights - Pure (or whatever it was called) on Kingsway - Viva Club in Richmond - The Shark Club on Lougheed (where Joey now is) - The old Bimini's (before it burned down and became a Donnelly Pub) - Plaza for the first couple of years (great house music on Saturday nights) |
the rage became plush which is now gossip. plaza -> venue stone temple -> joseph richards cherry bay -> modern -> post modern tonic -> has some weird name now |

Another one which comes to mind is Loft 6 in Gastown. It is now the Diamond. |
Ah Plaza, my first clubbing experience. Good times. Also $3.25 Canadians and Tequila Shots at Wild Coyote... Bad times. |

for some reason i thought purple onion was a jazz lounge i read the thread title and was expecting a history on car clubs in vancouver  |
Purple Onion was across the street from Richards. |
^ The Wild Coyote was a fun place - forgot about that one. I was on Granville Street on Saturday night to meet some drunk friends and my, what a gong show that place has become. There are still some decent places left like the Roxy and Bar None, but I feel sad for the kids these days. |
I showed up at Wild Coyote before right after ladies night fuck I was scared and hid in the back with a couple buddies while the male strippers took off.. But the ladies were good to go thats for sure:fullofwin: |
