god damn...

They survive winter under the ice of northern lakes; some have even recovered from being frozen! The Northern Snakehead, in particular, thrives on conditions that are similar to many Canadian waters. It is a voracious predator, and it grows rapidly to an adult length of 1.5 metres or more.

I wish laws preventing the importation of live and potentially invasive species were more strict and comprehensive. Snakeheads have decimated ecosystems in the United States and given the opportunity may do the same in Canada, they're illegal in Ontario for that very reason. It takes only one idiot with a bit of cash to purchase and release enough Snakeheads for them to establish a presence in British Columbia, which would then potentially cost hundreds of millions or more to eradicate.

^ Agreed. There are plently of types of fish you can eat.

If you REALLY want to eat this fish, then you can buy it, but already dead. It doesn't come into the country alive.

It's completely ridiculous that this loophole exists

They are known as Life fish.. because they are rather tough to kill even on the cutting board.

It is not a problem to the Federal Gov, since they have cut so deep at DFO etc.. there will be no one to monitor those fish, they can say it is not a problem.

They are fresh water fish, and a lot of times have parasites since they live fresh waters.. you don't want to have them as sashimi, they would have a strong taste of dirt.

.. Some dickhead put one of these in our lagoon at Central Park..

Now if confirmed ALL the fish (Koi, turtles, native fish) will have to die because of 1 fucktard. This kind of shit pisses me off. Let's tie up the asshole and feed him to the Snakeheads. =|

Just do what Springfield did with their pidgeon problem, let the Bolivian Tree Lizard take of it, then when the lizard population goes out of control, throw in the Chinese needle snakes. Of course, those have to be taken care of with snake-eating gorillas, then when wintertime rolls around, the gorillas will freeze to death.
