does anyone know whats the latest the shell on D-street in blaine is open till or if its 24hrs?

Yodamaster 06-02-2012 05:29 AM

This is exactly what the oil companies are trying to do to you people.

"Damn, $1.35 is cheap"

No, no it's not, it's a rip off. A lot of people are being conditioned into this way of thinking right now, just because it's cheaper than the alternative doesn't mean that it's "cheap"

Cheap is < $1 a litre.

penner2k 06-03-2012 05:01 PM

Its mainly BC that it keeps going up. In Alberta it has gone up about 8 cents a liter in the past 2 years. When summer came last year it went up by around 1 cent a liter unlike the lower mainland which it seems to jump by like 10 cents a liter.

Last time we had gas prices this high was summer 2008 right before the economic meltdown, and gas prices reached 1.60. Is this a sign of things to come?

hirevtuner 06-03-2012 07:16 PM

gas price dropped a bit, $1.429/l in the afternoon

The us is going through the worst drought in 70 -80 years and I think this is going to send gas prices way up. E85 85% denatured ethanol fuel is down south, Chevron up here posts up to 10% ethanol for regular mostly or all of it corn based ethanol along with all of the other places esso shell petro. Flip side at $2 per L you can push through any pipeline you like.:ilied:

Gas prices expected to go up a bit due to SF refinery fire
Expect gas prices to spike as a result of SF refinery fire - News1130
Quote:

Get ready for another possible spike at the pump.

This time you can thank a Chevron refinery fire near San Francisco.

So how will that affect prices? It has already sent wholesale prices soaring in California.

"We saw in the Pacific Northwest, on the US side, prices went up about 22 cents," says Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst of the Oil Price Information Service.

In litres that equals a jump of just a few cents, and Kloza expects the situation to be similar in BC.

"It's a big refinery that has gone down and if another one goes down, it sort of hikes the ante for other potential problems," he explains. "August is kind of the last month where we see very brisk demand and after Labour Day demand drops and it is much easier to manufacture the gasoline."

BP's Cherry Point refinery across the line from White Rock took four months to reach full production after a fire in February.

That situation kept Vancouver gas prices above 1.40 a litre even as the price of crude fell.

FUCK.

I go every 3-5 weeks depending on my schedule.

But if I go I also grab groceries to make the trip worthwhile.

I'll usually hop across the border maybe once every 1-3 weeks if I'm working at my south Surrey office. With a nexus it's easy enough for me to hop across and fill up then head back, and if time permits I'll grab groceries as well.

MG1 11-01-2012 07:48 AM

Filled up in Sumas, Wa this morning. $3.77 / US gal

$1.10/lire at Abbotsford Costo.

prices finally going down
