We have this at work

Light Bulb Changer from Bayco | The Home Depot - Model CE-600SDLB12

maybe with a standard ladder you could change it. i used the exact same pole and it worked alright. worth a try :)

Available at home depot. Replace with an LED so you don't need to do it again.

problem is theres a dome around it, with screws holding that dome on... cant access the bulb unless that dome comes off too :alone:

How many people does it take to change a lightbulb in Poland?

Three. One to hold the lightbulb and two to spin the ladder around.

(I'm so sorry, Mananetwork)

Then ladder. How many feet up is it?

Use a ladder, something so simple can easily fix your problem. Before you get hurt and cause a bigger problem.

:troll:

Anyway get the arm lol

Go in from the roof. Drop in from the skylight (remove glass first), and change the bulb like Spiderman.

Matlock 06-03-2012 07:49 AM

If the fixture has a "jam jar" you will need to remove the three screws/pins that are holding it in before changing the bulb.

How high up is the fixture?

Is this over a stairway?

There really isn't any other way to change it unless you have a ladder or some other less safe means of reaching it.

If it's over stairs then you may need to get creative or lean a ladder against a wall or have a little giant ladder. If it's on the landing, then you would need just a normal ladder.

build an arm using a mop and other crap around the house

or buy a ladder, change it then return the ladder to the store for a full refund

its about 10ft above the stairs escalating down.... and i'm scared shitless of heights lol so the idea of a ladder + stairs doesnt make me very happy :okay:

Whichever method you use, make sure you replace the bulb with one that will last a long ass time. Perhaps an LED light bulb.

Back to the problem. Build a platform that would allow an ordinary ladder to sit upright properly. There are attachments you can put on ladders for this purpose. Also, which way do your steps face?

I like the human tower idea.......... cheerleading team of chicks in their skimpy outfits?

The thread reminds me of this..........

Little giant ladders are great for stairs, because you can make one side longer than the other. I don't know where you could rent one though.

I used to be afraid of heights and it does take a while to get your confidence up. The other option you have is to get someone else to do it for you.

MG1 06-03-2012 08:43 AM

^ I have one of those, but it ain't long enough for what he needs. OP can PM me, if he wants to borrow it.

sebTeggy 06-03-2012 09:22 AM

CHange the title to 'can I borrow a ladder'

dinosaur 06-03-2012 09:32 AM

Host a Bollywood party.....that will get that light changed for ya ;)

Senna4ever 06-03-2012 09:40 AM

Maybe Home Depot or A&B Tool Rentals (A & B Tool Rentals - Equipment and Tool Rental in Vancouver BC and Surrey BC) rents that type of ladder?

Volvo-brickster 06-03-2012 09:47 AM

Forget the light bulb

fix the flashing / seal for your skylight

some nice water staining you got going on

DsZ24 06-03-2012 09:49 AM

Hire an electrcian to come in and put in a wall light for you, won't have to deal with that light up there anymore :p

But on a serious note you'll have to go with either a jaws ladder on the stairs or building up a platform that you can put a regular ladder on.

TheNewGirl 06-03-2012 09:57 AM

I have one of those. Thankfully I also have a landlord.
