Those hits that are a 4 feet away from the boards are the deadliest. I hope they can do something bout those hits.

The Canucks firing AV and replacing him with Lindy Ruff. We then go on to win the Cup and Ruff gets coach of the year ;)

Coach of the season can have his Jack Adams but the coach of the playoffs will have his Stanley Cup and ring

That is a very unfortunate result. From what I saw, the one in green/grey tried to throw a hit before he gets hit, which resulted in him putting himself in a vulnerable spot and getting over powered by the one in yellow.

I've seen Bert do that to Phaneuf, and Edler to many others countless times.. it only works if you catch the guy who's chasing off guard.. otherwise you go flying into the boards.

UFO 03-06-2013 08:05 PM

^exactly. The guy that got hit wasn't big or strong enough to overcome the momentum of the guy chasing him. He stopped up and was the one to actually initiate the contact. The guy that was chasing had no option to do anything else but keep going forward. He leaned in with his shoulder because that's what you would do if a guy was trying to throw a hit on you and you see it coming. I imagine he feels horrible and guilty for the end result of something that wasn't even really his own doing.

You said it right there, bud. The guy chasing should have eased up, you can see by his skates he did not do that at all, he went full force and pushed the guy into the boards. Thats a textbook dangerous hit, the guy who had position on the puck was only trying to brace himself for impact which is why you saw him begin to stop.

You see this play done properly in he NHL, players know that position is one of the most vulnerable spots you can be in. Racing to the boards at a high speed, they body up, and go in pretty much together.

This kind of shit happens when i guy doesnt stop and pushes through his opposing player. How you place any blame on the victim in this case makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

I see your point of view on the play, but its not as clearcut as you are describing it. You and I are seeing this play very differently. I didn't see him trying to stop/slow down and brace for the hit--what are you thinking when you try and stop 6 feet away from the boards at full speed with a guy chasing you down? I saw him cutting in and trying to go against the flow of momentum to throw a hit on the chaser.

The way I see it, all the chaser could do was brace himself for the contact and let his momemtum carry forward, there was no way he could have predicted the victim was not going to go straight to the boards to play the puck. In the split second that decision was made by the victim to cut into him, I don't believe the chaser could have slowed down and stop up even if he watned to. As you mentioned the only way this could have turned out well was if the chaser bearhugged the guy after contact and they went into the boards together, and even then, he'd still be called out for a dirty play and chances of injury would be high to both players, not just one.

Regardless of the intention and who's at fault, the damage is done and the end result is unfortuneate for ALL involved.

instead of firing AV why cant we hire Ruff as head coach and demote AV as assistant

Why the fuck would AV accept the demotion? :rukidding:

Oh and Ruff has accomplished jack shit in Buffalo for the last million years he's been there. Yes yes Stanley Cup Finals a decade ago..

Mike Oxbig 03-06-2013 10:36 PM

^ o u mad

get fired or get demoted :troll:

Hard decisions are hard to make for western canada teams. Most of the time move arent made due to stubbornness, shutting down manny was a good step moving forward to compete.

UFO 03-07-2013 05:12 AM

or just healthy scratch AV and let him watch from the pressbox, with bum buddy Andrew Alberts

Ballard and Bieksa out. Alberts and Barker in. Yes, that will be the third pairing.

#canucks will use 20-21-36 as 2nd PP unit up front. Schroeder and Lapierre may switch lines depending which zone VAN is in.

EmperorIS 03-07-2013 01:44 PM

Ballard should just ask to be traded. This is extremely not fair to him.
