Wow wat the hell am i reading. Not every player can have the killer instinct, a booming slapshop, a blazing wrist shot, worldclass speed ect. If u can there would be alot more Crosbys out there but wait a sec..... Theres only one. Out of the thousands and thousands of hockey players out there, theres only a few that elite. And im pretty sure out of alll those thousands they were told the same thing, get big get faster bla bla bla, but for alot of people it just cant happpen. Its like telling Henrik to take more slap shots, thats not his game, why would he do it. Hondaracer i thought u played hockey, u should know that u dont implement the weakest part of ur game into a hockey game. Posted via RS Mobile |
In other news, FA college prospect Antoine Laganiere should be choosing which team he signs with today. I've read that VAN/MTL are the major front runners, while PIT/EDM are also in on him. Would be another good FA signing, he's big, can skate, protects the puck well. Nothing like too many prospects. Dat female announcer doe :heckno: |
^^^didn't seem like that big of a hit (the one on previous page); glass must've had a weak spot or some shit.... Anyway, you guys keep posting these vids of hits, which is great and all, but doesn't necessarily exemplify 'killer instinct'....You don't need to give big hits to have 'it'.... Quote:

Based on the videos posted, 'killer instinct' is hitting. Patrick Kaleta has killer instinct....................but no cup :troll: |

So if Bure had killer instinct. And Linden had killer instinct. Why do we still not have a cup? :troll: |

Edit: Ok after reading bballguy's post below mine, I will retract my original statement and agree that Linden has killer instinct. |

Wake up a couple hours and I miss this shitshow... :lol what a nice way to start off my day surprised its been 3 pages and nobody has said, "god its turning into CDC around here" |
For those that don't get killer instinct.. Think of it as Goku going Super Saiyan when Krillin dies. Now apply it to hockey. Sorry, it's the best metaphor I can come up with.. :lol |

Killer instinct means being clutch. Someone who can step it up in big games. Fighting for every last yard, rebound, puck battle, home run. Someone who doesnt buckle under pressure. Prime examples. And I understand what people are trying to get at, from either sides/views. The thing is, even with this great metaphor, you can't necessarily apply that IRL. Goku basically got really pissed and snapped. So what happens if the Sedins snap and gets pissed (if that's even possible ), then you see them taking dumb penalties. Playing with rage isn't always a great idea. Ok, let's keep using anime examples. What about Takumi Fujiwara? What about Tezuka Kunimitsu (PoT)? They excel when they need to, but their demeanor is always so calm and collected. I personally wished Sedins could play more on a edge, just because it makes good entertainment and excitment. But I don't think it's the ONLY way to lead. |
That's a good point.. I think it's a mix of everything, not just one thing that encompasses a killer instinct. I would say someone possess a killer instinct when: A) they can raise their playing intensity in times of need; is clutch B) someone that is willing to pay every ounce of blood, sweat, and/or tears to win C) someone that pay zero fucks to what the scoreboard says; refusing to lose I use the Trevor Linden example because it's something almost of us all should be able to understand. All his injuries were evident, and you could see the effort with every shoulder check. Even Cliff Ronning said that hearing Linden screaming as he took needles to his chest in order to win was truly an inspiring thing. Goku metaphor was a more blunt approach to it. But of course, everyone shows their intensity in a different way. I think for hockey, we just consider it a highly emotional and physical sport, so if we don't see the Sedins throwing their bodies around, we disregard them as lacking "killer instinct". This can be used to explain Takumi or Tezuka's situation as well. With that said, I don't think the Sedins have that willingness to win.. I too, wish they would play with higher intensity at times. |

Add kopitar and dustin brown on the killer instinct list too. |
