Immediate adjustments that AV and the coaching staff need to make during practice today and off ice video prep: 1) Put lines together that make sense AV!![ Roy and Higgins showed chemistry when they played together. Roy makes the saucer passes to Higgins. Kesler is a shooter first, passer second. I would play Roy with Higgins and Kesler. Yeah, maybe AV wants Kesler to be the shut down centre on Couture. However, if the guy is playing like he is sick, he's not gonna generate a tonne of offensive chances. Put Roy and Higgins together to get some scoring chances in the slot, and attack the fricken net! 2) Put Kassian on the third line and tell him to play physical, but play smart. Zack has to stop taking dumb ass penalties like that hit against Couture last night. If he can make a clean hit on Couture, do it! Controlled aggression, not bonehead hits that result in penalties. 3) Shoot, shoot, the puck! Burrows and Kassian need to park themselves in front of Niemi, and make more shots at the faceoff circle, at the slot. Monster had zero shots on goal in game 1. As for Daniel, he's gotta stop hesitating on shots, and follow his offensive instinct. 4) Power play adjustments: Garrison needs to unload his slapshot much more. Kassian, Kesler, and Burrows, again need to be in front of the net, to go for rebounds, and deflections. If Garrison can unload the slapshot, and hit a Sharks player, and get a rebound, it just makes for garbage goal opportunities for us. The same goes for Edler. The Sedins gotta find their cycle game back in a hurry. We need sustained offensive pressure in the sharks zone. Shoot the puck low at Niemi's pads and pounce on the rebounds. Make life miserable for Niemi by putting big players in front of him. There's no way he's gonna fall asleep in game 1 with players in front of him blocking his view of the puck. Kassian, Kesler, Burrows, and Weise need to pitch a tent in front of Niemi and block his view of the puck. I guarantee that if Garrison and Edler shoot more, those Sharks players like Couture would think twice about trying to block that cannon. His slapshot will make those Sharks understand the meaning of pain. 5) Improve positional play: Most of the Canucks' offensive chances were shots from the perimeter. outside of the Sharks' defensive box of forwards/d-men. We gotta use our team speed from Kesler, Burrows, May Ray, Roy to skate hard to the net and shoot pucks at Niemi, while the goalie is screened. 6) Bench Ebbett. Call up Schroeder to play with Raymond There's no way this guy even belongs in an NHL game. AV needs to call up Schroeder so that a speed line with May Ray will create more scoring chances for the team. 7) More practice on faceoffs. Thornton was owning the puck in the face offs for much of game 1. Puck possession must improve. |
My problem with AV's line juggling isn't the line juggling but that his juggles don't make any fucking sense. What? Sedins struggling? BETTER PUT WEISE ON THE FIRST LINE. Roy and Higgins obviously have chemistry? BETTER SPLIT THEM UP AND USE RAYMOND WITH ROY INSTEAD. |
Have to admit that all line juggle were sorta unsuccessful... except for sedin sedin kassian and higgins burrows hansen who had a bit of success. |
This morning Ray Ferraro said on Team 1040 that Kesler has the flu, which is bad timing. Hopefully he recovers by Friday because if Kesler doesn't get going, we'll get nowhere in the playoffs. |
News1130 Sports @News1130Sports 52m Have been told #Canucks forward Ryan Kesler had the stomach flu all day yesterday and was very sick. Should be much better in game 2. |

It's pretty sad that one player will effect a team so much. Makes the pens look that much more scary with what they have been doing with out the great 87 |
If AV finally figures out how to create lines properly to spark our offense, and combine muscle with speed, he should follow my proposed lines for the rest of the series: First Line: Sedins, Burrows. Offense lifeline. Second Line: Higgins, Kelser, Roy. Offense and "shutdown Couture" line. Third Line: Schroeder, Raymond, Kassian. The Speed and Power line. Fourth Line: Lapierre, Hansen & Weise. Smash and Bash line. |

Hansen is not a smash and bash player |
News1130 Sports @News1130Sports 1h Liut says Schnieder's physical problem getting better and practising and playing a game are 2 different things. News1130 Sports @News1130Sports 1h Liut tells News 1130 that Schnieder's problem is physical and NOT mental. |
Why the HELL does Kesler ALWAYS have some kind of excuse in the Playoffs. :rukidding: This is just ridiculously frustrating. |
Burr - sedin - sedin Kesler - Roy - Higgins Lapierre - Hansen - Raymond Weise - ebbett - kassian Are the lines in this mornings practice. And no Schneider practicing Posted via RS Mobile |

I've been in a situation where I had the flu and still had to power through about 3.5-4.0 hrs of a physically intense event and it is NOT easy. Every little thing you do is more exhausting than normal and you feel like puking once you get a tiny little break. The energy level you have is low to begin with so you really have to dig deep to keep up with others. I feel for Kesler because I do (to an extent) know what it feels like. Normally, people get to call in sick or simply won't show up. It's incredibly hard to have the weight of the world on your shoulders and do your best while sick like this. |
Lol Ebbett is still in the line up....FUCK Posted via RS Mobile |

If only AV read our posts about line up proposals. Heck, our armchair coaching lineups about putting May Ray with Schroeder together, and putting Hansen with them, make total sense. :smug: |
Ebbett is to forwards, what Rome was to defensemen for AV. |
