Edit: I have only played a grand total of TWO games so far and I haven't got a chance to go home and play more to really get a good feel for the game yet, but my friend was telling me today that this new skating system makes it pretty abusable by the "superstars" of the game. Like Ovechkin and St. Louis can pretty much dangle the puck like it's glued to their stick, backskate, whirl around and blitz through the opposing D for a breakaway goal pretty much anytime, is this true?

The poke check is ridiculously OP. Anyone who's dancing through defenses is playing someone who doesn't know how to play defense :P

But I find when your D can give you a good breakout pass and your guy is fast as fuck breakaway galore Which has happened to me numerous times now:)

EA SPORTS World - Member List

Remember my only goal that caused a glitch, resulting in a defensive zone faceoff and no actual goal counting? Well, apparently it counted on EA Sports World :ahwow:

Also, I was in an Online Versus league w/ BBraich last year. I thought his name looked familiar ...

Man playing defense is HARD this year. It looks like your teammate has control of the puck so you take one step up the ice. But your teammate loses it and it goes back the other way but because you took a step forward first, it takes a long time for you to gain momentum to go back the other way.


Almsot all the OTP games I played were breakaway fests lol.

Is anyone having online issues, ie: disconnections from time to time? Just like every other year in the NHL series lol? I got disconnected 3 times when we were winning which pisses me off..... and don't get me started at the ridiculous loading times at each UI menu... :rukidding:

I can't believe they didn't fix the loading time in menus. It was fast in NHL 11 then slow as a snail in 12 an now 13

NHL 12 was slow but playable.

I started a BAP and Be a gm offline
it took a good 15 minutes to 20 minutes to sim to pre season games..................

After I send my players to the collections and exit back to the main screen, my "updating store catalog" takes forever to finish loading. Is something corrupt or is it a known issue??

Read that they will allow the trade 2 for regular copies til the 17th.. not sure if that's true or what titles they'll allow for the trade.

I opted to stick with my EB pre-order so that I could get the 16 free HUT Packs but it looks like there's some glitch going on ... I already redeemed the code but there's not Free Packs anywhere!... damn it I should have just cancelled it and went for the FS Trade-in ... now my NHL12 is sitting at home, it's only worth $8 at EB and $6 at FS :fuckthatshit: ...

So I just got a chance to play a few more games last night ... I'm getting tons of breakaways with Ovechkin and even Karlsson (sens offensive D) can blaze through the neutral zone to power towards the net if you can avoid the ridiculously effective poke check lol ...

The goalies seem to be better going side to side for one timers but it's pretty lame when I can power in on the side and just wrist it top shelf ... looks like I'll have to tweak the sliders again to make it harder to score ...
Online I'm slamming in like 5-6 goals average every game ... given that I give up a lot of goals too, it's kind of ridiculous for 5min periods ...

NHL12 I tweaked the sliders to (IMO) the perfect settings, playing 7min periods, getting around 20-30 SOG with the score being 3-1, 2-0, etc ... IMO more realistic instead of having 18 SOG and 5 goals like it is now. Only problem was the HIT registry and no penalties called... which is the same issue this year with the latter problem.
