I currently make more then my parents have ever made combined. Feelssortabadman when I realize how much of a struggle it must have been raising two kids on this income.

If you are over 25 years old and still making less than 50k, you should reconsider you career bro!

I'd say $100K by 25yr old, $500K by 30s, and $5mil+ by 40s would be considered "acceptable".
These numbers are by no means great, maybe average? There are a lot of people here making 10x these numbers!

Their money went a lot further back then but at the same time, it's pretty amazing to think they spent so much on us.

I typed up a long story about coming up in a poor family, but I realized that this is a troll thread.

TL;DR is that I'm earning more than my folks did/do. But it wasn't that hard to do.

if u make a lot less than ur parents theyre prolly loaded and your broke and proviledged ass feels useless. if u make a lot more than ur parents they dont stfu about how they raised u on a combined income of 40k and still had enough money to put to savings leftover, unlike your restaurant-eating ass. lose lose man

same boat. I made more money last month that my mom probably will in 6 months.

And I just think back to growing up how it never felt like anything was missing or life was tough but now that Im older I realize how tough it must have been for my mom to be a single mom raising a kid.

And that's a good bit of the motivation why I work so damn hard because I want to have a good situation for my family

Unless you live a lifestyle where you need to show off to other people how ballin' you are; or if posin' is your primary goal in life, then yeah, you're not making enough.

For the normal people, $50k annual is an adequate number to live a happy life. Don't get caught up in some of the sentiments here that you need to be ballin' to be happy; or to be a man.

Apart from gambling, I've spent the better portion of my life to date the same way.

However, just because this isn't considered as "traditional" education doesn't mean that this time spent is a time wasted. This type of experience I consider as auxiliary education. And what I mean by that is that you develop social, survival, and various other soft skills.

In the professional world, I've seen highly technically and educationally qualified people being overtaken by an individual who may be less qualified but is high on the skills you probably possess.

Ideally, it's good to have a good balance of both, but to have one or the other doesn't make you a non-worthy individual either.
