BMW M3 hits barricade and rolls on wet highway

This is why you take it easy in the rain...

RS meet to test legitimacy of this.

Noran 08-08-2012 12:30 AM

He's lucky he didn't take any one else out.

jackal 08-08-2012 03:34 AM

that looks like it would have been really easy to save if the driver hadn't panicked and locked the wheels. a simple counter steer probably would have saved it.

locked the wheels? wtf happen to abs

xilley 08-08-2012 04:47 AM

not sure how the driver did that.. didnt seem like it was going that fast or even losing traction that badly..

q0192837465 08-08-2012 05:52 AM

I thot it happened yesterday in the thunder storm

BossFrancis 08-08-2012 06:12 AM

So this looks like this was in China

GLOW 08-08-2012 06:52 AM

first thing that came to mind is that maybe he couldn't afford new tires for drifting so tries to do it in the rain ala initial d :troll:

Ferra 08-08-2012 07:41 AM

why is the windshield wipers so flappy lol

beebob 08-08-2012 07:55 AM

this happened in taiwan. we had pretty heavy rain and strong wind that day due to a typhoon.

someone on another forum did an analysis and said the camera car was travelling at around 110km/h. i have not driven a proper rear-wheel sports car before let alone in the rain, but if i had 450hp going to my rear wheels, i would go a little slower than that.

as for the flappy wipers, google "rolling shutter"

donjalapeno 08-08-2012 08:01 AM

Took the hit so well....the headlights are still on :fulloffuck:

Marco911 08-08-2012 08:27 AM

Bald summer tires and water on the road are a bad combination. The BMW hydroplaned when he attempted to pass the idiot left lane hog on the right.

fliptuner 08-08-2012 09:41 AM

What's so hard about driving according to the conditions?

Too many people think their traction control, abs, ESC, LMNOP are going to drive the fucking car for them cause they're too stupid and/or lazy to figure out how their car performs in less than ideal and emergency situations.

belaud 08-08-2012 10:06 AM

Wait....so you're telling me I can't use my summer tires in winter even with my STI?!?!

Subaru ripped me off! :fuuuuu:

Z3guy 08-08-2012 10:13 AM

I noticed the M3 driver was braking the whole time when he smacked the barricade...I wonder what would of happened if he/she used the throttle and tried to counter steer out of it?

unit 08-08-2012 10:14 AM

^probably the exact same thing.

InvisibleSoul 08-08-2012 10:22 AM

FWD/AWD might have a chance if you nail the throttle and counter steer... but don't think it's gonna help with RWD.

Prolowtone 08-08-2012 12:03 PM

let off throttle and counter steer.. or turn into your spin so you dont hit so hard head on and slide backwards along the wall

- kT 08-08-2012 02:48 PM

looks like he already tried to countersteer but his wheels locked up

Energy 08-08-2012 03:14 PM

Driving a lightweight, rwd, no electronic safety nets, twitchy rear end, uneven powerband S2000 in rain and snow taught me how to always drive according to conditions.

Cars are actually much safer now and yet people still screw up.

Kanadain 08-08-2012 09:54 PM

You can't fix stupid. All you can do is make them take an advanced drivers course when they buy a car that is capable of doing this kind of thing before selling it to them.

d1 08-08-2012 10:03 PM

maybe the camera car shouldn't have hogged the left lane.
