Buying synthetic oil locally

Where do you guys buy synthetic oil locally? I don't have much foresight, and my car's well overdue for an oil change and there's currently no sales on mobil1 at cambodian tire how there usually are.

I need synthetic motor oil, differential fluid and transfercase fluid :ahwow: Where does everyone buy theirs from?

snails 08-13-2012 03:16 PM

walmart
lorco
napa

roastpuff 08-13-2012 03:17 PM

speed syndicate has motul stuff. Lordco has stuff as well.

TypeRNammer 08-13-2012 03:17 PM

Try Walmart for synthetic oil?

They have the Pennzoil oil jugs that costs in the mid 20's, usually they're advertised in the flyer.

Fafine 08-13-2012 03:18 PM

+1 for walmart their oil usually goes on sale.

I know you said locally, but consider going down to the states to WalMart, it's where I get Royal Purple at around $8 per Liter

I get Royal Purple for $8.25/L at Lordco if I buy a full case. I don't have an account.

That's not too bad, Walmart in the states sell Mobil 1 for about 29 bucks, 5 quarts.

sekin67835 08-13-2012 03:33 PM

I'm looking for 0-40w synthetic Mobil 1, but I only see small 1 litre bottles at Cambodia tire. Tried looking at Lordco shelves and they don't have it there. Anyone know where I can get the big jugs?

godwin 08-13-2012 04:38 PM

They don't sell it in Canada

12.

I'm not sure if every counter guy would be willing to give that price, there seems to be a fair bit of individual discretion regarding level of discount given to people without accounts. I specifically asked one time, can you do this $xx.xx price per quart if I take a full case and that's what I've been getting it for since.

RS has an account at Lordco, but I don't think there's much of a discount attached to it...

personally, I like Lubro Moly Fluids in my German cars.

BMV in Richmond sell's Lubro Moly fluids, at a reasonable price.

dlo 08-14-2012 12:52 AM

Check superstore, their prices are better than Ctire lol

Not quite, it's location specific.

The Grandview Highway location carries jack shit when it comes to engine oil.

dlo 08-14-2012 01:11 AM

Well guess its the metro one lol, got the 4.4 litre for 30$ mobil 1

Define reasonable. I have an oil change coming up soon too.

I personally don't buy from them, because I work at a shop and we have distributors.

I have heard good reviews about BMV in Richmond, and stating their prices are more than fair.

Last time I heard LM 5w-40 oil was $40? for a 5L bottle.

Right now their promo for a 6/8 cylinder car is 10L of oil and an OE filter for $99.95

OILCHANGE KIT

For diff & tranny oils, use Redline,it's just better.

ilvtofu 08-14-2012 01:39 PM

I just buy whatever's on sale at Canadian Tire
Bought 4.4L Castrol Edge last month ~$31
I looked around at Lordco before CT but I have no account and their regular priced stuff is expensive for the big jugs

bcrdukes 08-14-2012 02:23 PM

For Redline Synthetics, I buy them from Frank @ Driver's Edge on Boundary (between Open Road Audi and Brian Jessel BMW.)

Fafine 08-14-2012 02:35 PM

if you guys want cheap oil, hit up the lordco tradeshow. happens once a year around march.
you do need an account to get in, or if you attend vcc etc.
i believe pennzoil syn was $6/L this year.
my friends usually stock up enough for the year

Bonka 08-14-2012 02:51 PM

I buy Esso Extra XD3 0w30 (now known as Mobil Delvac Elite 222) at the Esso distributor on Underhill in Burnaby. It's a well-priced (last I bought it was just under $6/L, but it was a few years back), heavier grade synthetic designed for diesel applications but works great on my VQ and many other gasoline engines as per BITOG. You can look into it if you're game as I believe they also have it in 0w40.

I use Amsoil for everything else just find an independent dealer on the auto forums.

Is this the Penzoil Platinum or some other oil?
The PP is only $24.95 for 4.73L at Walmart, but they want $40+ for the 5L jugs.

Their PP only comes in 5w20, 5w30, and 10w30 which sells out pretty quick.
