I was in Sumas today picking up a case of Royal Purple and all this talk of 5 Guys on RS made me go further south than I wanted to.

Dayum, was it good. I had the small bacon and cheese burger (one patty). Added lettuce, shrooms, and onions, I did. Dayum, so good - no wonder that black guy was so into this shit. They gave me four or five napkins and let me tell you, I had to use all of them. Juicy and full of win. And the fries......... half the bag was filled with fries. Good fries. So greasy, but so good. They got soggy pretty fast. Must be the peanut oil. BTW, if you have peanut allergies, stay the fuck away from this place, LOL.

I made the mistake of eating a shitload of free roasted peanuts while waiting for my order. By the time my order was ready, I was full on peanuts. Dayum. The burger was worth the money, though. Cheaper than a Vera's burger and just as good, if not better.

The 5 Guys Burger in Bellingham is in the same complex as the Fred Meyers on Bakerview Road. It's on the Freeway side of Freddies. By the time I got home, there was still a shitload of fries left in the bag. My steering wheel needs to be wiped, LOL. It's too bad the ketchup they give you is made from that high fructose corn shit. I hope that shit never makes it north of the border.

Why am I saying "dayum" and "shit" so much? Must be the peanut oil. Dayum!

Been to 5 Guys (Park Royal) a couple of times now.
I've hit up most of the requisite burger shops around the city except for Moderne and Romers

As much as I like a Vera's burger, I just don't think it quite stacks up.

Fatburger is a bit more "factory" made, everything seems to come up a bit nicer, a bit cleaner and a bit neater, but still awesome (Brentwood location only). The Dunsmuir location sucks balls. I worked 2 blocks from there for a couple years. The burger feels bigger, and thicker, but more bread and meat ratio to condiments.

I have only been to the Park Royal 5 Guys, so take what I say with a grain of salt. Compared to Vera's and Fatburger, I think 5 Guys has a bit more of the sloppy homemade feel of a Vera's burger, but the meat seems better. The meat has more charring, a better crust and more flavor and isn't dry at all. Their condiments are great and you get a lot of them. Even for the double patty burger, you'll get a lot of condiments to meat/bun ratio which is fine by me. They aren't generous with their bacon, but it's still good. Their buns aren't the best, so I'd give that a pass since they won't fall apart on you either.

I love how you get a ton of fries. But the fries aren't amazing. I've had tons of fries better elsewhere. Like others have said, they could be crispier.
What you do get though is fresh fries. They don't come out half assed and are hot when you get them. And somewhat closer to a fish and chips place, the fries are a bit greasy and to be honest, I'm perfectly ok with that.

Right now, best Chain Restaurant burgers I have had.

i saw 'em, knew what they were tryin' to do...i was like nuh-uh playa, i ain't gonna fall for that B

my friend went and grabbed some but i knew what's up...didn't touch a single peanut & had room for my double paddy & cheese with crispy bacon, fries with just the right amount of salt and a pop with refill :awwyeah:

Meowjin 08-28-2012 12:03 PM

what the fuck

the peanuts are free

if you get full off peanuts you eat less

how does that logic make any sense

murd0c 08-28-2012 12:11 PM

The trick is to take the peanuts home for later ;)

vafanculo 08-28-2012 12:46 PM

Tbh, those are some wicked wicked peanuts they have. Next time I go, they ARE going home with me.
