Call the local dealerships for a quote then compare with online parts warehouses like Ron Ayers, Babbit's, and Bike Bandit.

Maybe even try heading over to the BCSB forums and post asking if anyone who has their bike lowered and still has the original dog bones would be willing to part with them.

check fuses first cause thats the easiest. then follow the tail light wire and check all around for any burntish areas, just cut it and fix it if you find it.

how do you know it's a short? is the brake light on all the time? could be a bad bulb too.

check the brake switch connectors as well.
