I think it should be on the before tax amount.

It's supposed to be on the pre-tax amount.

lol... Yesterday I went to get take out.
Bill came to $19.94. I paid with a twenty and waited for my change...

I'd wait for my change too. Not because I'm cheap and I want to save the 6 pennies.. But because it looks rude/ even more cheap to leave a 6 cents tip.

Now, if the change was .75 cents, what would you have done?

I disagree. When people get coffee, they sometimes leave whatever change is leftover from the toonie that they give. But that's socially acceptable right?

And then nothing... I took my 6 cents and left. Lol

At the time of payment, I actually didn't even realize it was only 6 cents change.
I just put a twenty on the tray cause I knew that would cover the bill.

But regardless, I always take my change on take out, cause I don't tip on take outs.

Well, coffee houses have a tip jar, where you could dump loose change. Also, 6 cents left over towards a $1.50 coffee seems like a bigger tip then 6 cents towards a 20 dollar bill.

Lastly, you don't really tip your barista. But, you 'have' to tip at a restaurant.

Exactly - why would I want to tip on the amount that goes to gov't!

Yes... I figured my first post should have already been self explanatory in the context of this thread. :suspicious:

I guess my second post was redundant after all.

Well, the thread is simply asking if you tip in certain situations and to discuss it, not to tell a riveting tale about how you waited to get back a nickel and a penny.
