^You require a tag to hunt an animal, not to prevent it from killing you. Quote:

A bear banger, either in the form of a shotgun round or fired off the pen-type launcher is a very effective deterrent. The pen-type launch ones are inexpensive, essentially fool proof, and do not require a firearms license. I've heard lots of hunters say they'll just fire off a shot to scare away a bear, but I always counter that a bear banger is exponentially more effective since it explodes near the animal. Quote:

People equate a love for a 'pet' with a necessity to interact with them as if they were a person, but that eventually breeds varying degrees of negative behaviours that are sometimes tolerable, but often not. What happens when anthropomorphising breeds a negative behaviour that is serious and difficult to correct? People try to adopt the 'pet' out to another home because they cannot tolerate it, but no one else can either and the 'pet' is put down. Inexperienced horse owners do this all the time and eventually the horse gets sold for meat, because they develop such poor people manners that they're liable to kill someone. 'Pets' are not any less happy or loving when the people they interact with appeal to their natural instincts and behaviours.
Excuse my little rant.

Mind bomber, when I say BB I'm talking about the BB round shotgun shells, so you've got like 15-20 "BB" sized shots for birds and what not loaded in front of a slug, if a bear were to attack the idea is to shoot the BB shot into it's face to blind or at least hinder it, then the next shell in is a slug meant to do fatal damage Posted via RS Mobile |

A remember a friend telling me that you also never want to go for a headshot with bears? That literally your bullet has a good chance of simply bouncing off their thick skulls?

From what I hear, he was a HUGE bear (1500kg give or take). They currently have a baby grizzly named Billy (he's a riot). 14 months old (I think) and already 700kg. He's like a really big dog though if you have grapes .
They have a ton of trained animals, including raccoons, birds (raven, eagle, owl), deer, wolves, etc.
Aggie (the polar bear) is pretty big in person. I forgot how much she weighs though. They threw donuts (I think they were at least), and she quickly realized she didn't have to do any tricks to eventually get them, so she got lazy
edit: I just realized there was a second page and I quoted an early entry. Sorry for being somewhat offtopic.
