NV4_disp error help

Got the blue screen of death with this error. I messed around in safe mode used updated nvidia drivers with no success so I decided to just do a clean install of windows. Unfortunatly the same problem happens (screen goes crazy with multiple colors). When I run it in safe mode I uninstalled the video card and the laptop will now run in VGA mode but now the resolution is skewed as the right setting is not on the options (only 2 options).

Is there a way to use a generic svga driver? This laptop is only for work so no gaming. Or is my graphics card fucked?

Had a similar issue way back when and it was a defective card. Might be different for you though.

most definitely that somethings gone if a clean install doesnt work. Prob is your video card since you see random crazy colours.

Is there an option to run svga without the video card working? VGA does but it doesn't run smooth.

somewhat of a long read but to absolutely rule out bad driver install check here:

Ultimate Nvidia Driver Guide for Uninstalling and Installing driversets

I was running into problems after a new driver so I gave this a go and it worked
