i plan on sticking to cypress again this year, parking sucks, but lots of runs, lifts and the lifts are pretty fast ... as long as i dont tear my arm off again

3rd degree separation and dislocation! good way to get out of work.. or anything really for about 3 months!

If you are going for an hour or 2, and live in vancouver, grouse is the best choice IMO. Cypress sucks for someone like me, who likes to ride park when riding in the city. The snow around here is too shitty and heavy for me to even want to just cruise, if there is a park around. I'll ride whistler/baker if I'm chasing deep snow, or just go sled. Seymour is awesome, but kinda a hassle to get to for me, living in kits.

bluejays 11-05-2012 03:33 PM

I like park, but I'd rather ride pow/out of bounds. Hate just normal cruising which is why I never go to cypress as well.

westopher 11-05-2012 03:40 PM

I'd always take a pow day over a park day, but I'd also take a good park sesh over the mashed potato (pow?) days we have on the local mountains

TOS'd 11-05-2012 04:44 PM

Not going to be picky since we live so close to so many mountains. I can be on a lift in <30mins. :)

Sometimes I enjoy the mindless cruising and bombing down hills, just to feel the wind and look at the scenery.

artmotion 11-05-2012 04:51 PM

I'll take a powder day over park any day. I started at Seymour so it's the mountain I'm most familiar with but it was a total bitch going up there when I didn't have a car. The park is always a ton of fun but it's definitely not as well maintained as Grouse. And for Cypress, I just haven't had the best experiences there, getting kicked out of the park because I didn't have a helmet :(

Started waxing my own board last season. Just grabbed whatever all-temp they had sitting in the boardshop and it's been working great for the local conditions. Besides, anything is better than the stupid roller job at the hill hut...

Just ordered me a Rome Postermania from last season for half price. After 4 seasons it's time to retire my cheapo sport mart setup for something semi respectable :P

TOS'd 11-05-2012 08:01 PM

^ i hear you, haha. This will be my 4th season with my beginner setup, i definitely need an upgrade.

Neva 11-05-2012 09:33 PM

^man last day last season I rode a generic burton rental setup and that was it. once I felt the difference my mind was made up.

On that note anyone ride rome 390 boss bindings? Damn online shopping is raping my wallet
I got size 9 boots right now but my shoe size is 8.5 so I fall right into the category of maxing s/md and l/xl both ways. just want to see if anyone else is in my boat with problems of oversizing etc before I throw down some more moooooola

Thanks Neva! will look at all temp wax.

I had a cheap 5150 board that i started with last season and just outgrew it so fast. I ended up ordering my highlife during summer for a steal! $293 after everything brand new! cant wait to use it.

heres the set up

how do you like your cartels? I was thinking about picking up some last seasons if i can find them/the 390s don't pan out. Only problem is they're so damn popular you can't find any old stock...

westopher 11-06-2012 12:03 AM

From someone who went from cartels to 390s, there is no comparison. The cartels are less comfortable, I broke 3 baseplates in one season, and they will shift if you land weird on big jumps. It was the case with me and all of my buddies that rode them. Cartels highbacks are too high for me personally as well. They wouldn't sit as well on my calf as the 390s do. I also ride sz 9 boots and I have the L/XL. I have had 3 sets of them over 5 seasons. The only reason I bought new ones is because I got a rome proform from my buddies shop a few seasons in a row. You are going to love that poster mania you picked up as well. I ride an agent rocker, and its by far the best board I have ever ridden.

Go with the L/XL. I've had both the 390's and the Targas. With my 390's I had a size 9 nike boot, With my Targas I had a size 8 Salomon boot. Didin't have any problems.

Some of my friends went with the S/M and it was too small even though they wore a size 9 boot or something.

My opinion is very biased since i went from a Flow The five bindings to the cartels. Making that switch was night and day so ill be praising the cartels. Do price matching for this years cartels at evo.com. Thats how i got my board for cheap and the cartels for 170. they'll probably be full price right now still though

Thanks to tomatogunk!

If for any reason that code stops working (which i doubt it will), you can use the following login information. These were provided at the cypress booth at the snow show this year. Discount is the exact same as the MINI one. Both expire December 1, 2012.

GabAlmighty 11-11-2012 09:28 PM

Bought my Whistler seasons pass this week, then I priced out rims and tires for the truck at $1400 shipped in the states. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.

Simplex123 11-12-2012 12:00 AM

Hey TOS'd/ziggyx was the $250 student pass for Seymour an early bird price if you bought it in September? It's $589 right now.. :okay:

TOS'd 11-12-2012 12:06 AM

Yea, was early bird. They do 60% then 40%. Don't know if they go to 20% or straight to regular price after the 40%.
