Funny you ask.

Dad is Japanese. Mom is Brazilian. You guys can connect the dots or draw to your own conclusion what she looks like.

Edit: She still stays in touch with my parents.

Post pics, she sounds like a smoke show.

$3m and you get no backyard (all concrete) and the ugliest laneway I've ever seen.

At least the entry to the garage isn't at 45 degrees like that other place near homeless park lol

68style 05-02-2024 01:45 PM

Or you could move to Calgary with me and save $400,000 for a Lambo by getting this place for $2.6M... no PTT either!

Although personally I'd just get this place for $1.2 and pocket $1.8M for basically retiring on the spot and not having to work anymore? :D

..... or... I guess you could stay in Vancouver for the $3M and rent out your laneway home to make mortgage each month.... and have some twat complain that you open your weird 1.5 car garage door too often and it's disturbing them :troll:

LAWL... !!! just looking at that castle in Calgary makes me sad. Why do we live here again?

68style 05-02-2024 01:56 PM

Mario & Luigi's mansion yo hahaha

Badhobz 05-02-2024 02:15 PM

i should move back to edmonton. be the token chinamen in Edmonton again and move back to that Chinatown area (which is like a 2-block radius).

i have a lot of fond memories of growing up there. Super soaker fights, pushing IGA carts around for fun, playing hockey, etc.

radeonboy 05-02-2024 02:22 PM

Out of curiosity, at what square footage does a home become too big for comfort?

My gut reaction with that Calgary Castle feels like a ton of value with lots of space for whatever, but at the same time, it'll feel cold and empty unless enough people are living there to make it feel lived in.

There's more than a few Chinese/East Asian folks in Edmonton still - heck I was born there too! Spoke to one guy last fall who was running his family's Chinese-Canadian diner for like 3 generations since the 1940s. But these days (like the rest of Canada, heck the western world), every 2nd person on the street seems to be South Asian or Middle Eastern.

I forgot how it goes with that area where that mansion is. The sewers are septic and you have to contract out garbage. The water you have to either get it delivered or drill a well. Gotta buy a john deere for landscaping. TONS of mosquitos in the summer.

Not the lifestyle for a city dweller.

CivicBlues 05-02-2024 02:45 PM

Yeah man this is the place:
https://maps.app.goo.gl/U1CNjKRptqNuoLBF7

Apparently was Edmonton's oldest continuing running restaurant, run by Chinamenz. He even owns the property too so no eviction without $$$

Old School Diner shit.

I didn't really grow up in Edmonton, left after Kindergarten so the city was new to me when I went back in 2008 and again just last year.

Badhobz 05-02-2024 03:07 PM

My parents only stayed for a few years. By grade 4 I was in Vancouver already but Edmonton is where those catholic nuns beat the Engrish into me.

I still think it’s a great place to grow up. Good for families and wholesome values.

Depends on what you're used to...

I lived in a 4000 sq ft house in Richmond from the age of 16 to 26. It was my parents, sister, and grandma (but she passed away) and there was tons of space for everybody.

Then I got married and moved into a 1200 sq ft duplex split between 2 floors in the Marpole area and it was enough for the two of us, plus a young child, for a few years.

Then since 2014, I've been living in a 2300 sq ft (plus a 500 sq ft 2bed 1bath basement suite) 3 storey house in the Sunset area. Again, the space is enough for my wife and two kids, but I would love to reclaim the basement suite. I have a massive LEGO collection that is all packed up in boxes...

If I was back in the house in Richmond, that would be perfect! First world problems...

Meh.. not a deal breaker.

My old boss had 10 acres in Langley and he didn’t even bother with city garbage and recycling. He had a full garbage service come empty his dumpsters and recycling once a week. If anything the increase in cost is worth avoiding the headaches.

If you’re buying into a mansion like that you better be able to cover some expenses like that lol

There's a front entrance to the basement too. So my guess is:

Main house
Bachelor suite
Basement suite
Laneway

JDMDreams 05-02-2024 03:32 PM

Is that even legal? I thought you had to have x amount of green space grass. I always wanted a giant paved backyard for car hoarding.
