I'm banned by gf from even looking at the realty website... or if I do I'm not allowed to bring anything I see on there up hahaha

So update to this mini-saga...

We were about to de-list the house and with a LOT of help from lowside67 on RS and his expertise/contacts investigate financing both homes. Definitely not how I wanted things to go, but backs were up against the wall and running out of options.

Then we got an offer, bit lower than we wanted, but we came back with a counter offer and they came back with another offer a bit higher... while we were preparing to counter, they came back 2 more times with increasing offers. Kinda weird, like they were negotiating with themselves?? lol... the 2nd follow-up offer they came back with was what we were going to counter with anyway, so we took it. Deposit paid yesterday, subject removal on Friday and possession date 7 days before possession date of the 2nd house.

Barring a disaster, looks like it all worked out JUST BARELY... getting a 3 week possession timeline from a buyer was pretty insane, I thought we were cooked on that for sure and that it was going to overlap with possession date of the 2nd house or be too close to have the money to close that one.

your balls are so huge, it'll block out the sun.

these realtors will have to squabble in the shade of such vast testicles

68style 08-13-2024 08:55 AM

Funny enough, the realtor felt so bad that he wasn't delivering a sale, he reduced his commission to zero... so I only have to pay the buyer's agent.

Traum 08-13-2024 08:55 AM

Oh damn... that is a nice time capsule. If I were a buyer, the only thing I'd want to change out is to convert the garage door into a modern powered one.

My parent's neighbour has put up their house for sale and it's a super well maintained time capsule into the 1970s. The husband passed away years ago and I figure the widow isn't able to live independently anymore (I think she'd be in her late 80's or 90s now). Lovely house and for $1.8m it doesn't seem crazy when new duplexes are going for that or more.

That's a beautiful house, but I have a spy balloon at home too and old homes like that won't fly without major work done.

Nice, just holding your breath until subject removal now! Did your place(s) not get wrecked by that massive hailstorm last week?

Nah that was mostly in the north and NE, GS8's gf got her car pumelled sitting at the airport parking lot though... destroyed her hood, roof and windshield I think

2024 Honda HRV with 6000KM

The NE got hit the hardest with the icey stuff. Was mostly rain elsewhere. Calgary has unique geography when it comes to airflow.

LOL. Just had to help them look at it a little differently and connect them with the right person to give them some options.

Easy peasy.

Don't know if any of you have $30m just lying around but this place looks pretty sharp for an estate. I wouldn't complain about living there and with a 20% downpayment it'd only be a $130k monthly mortgage payment. That's not even 911 money!

I can't even buy that even if I won the 70m Lotto Max jackpot, but damn it has it's own trails systems through the 4.5 acres park of a back yard. That's nuts.

But damn I wish my parents had the dough for something like that. I won't even have to leave the house.

bcrdukes 08-13-2024 08:32 PM

Drop in the bucket for Badhobz.

Badhobz 08-13-2024 08:36 PM

Nah that’s more of a spy balloon kind of house. I still want my forest batcave away from all the idiots.

JDMDreams 08-13-2024 10:35 PM

I dunno how I feel about it with the old haunted house and random modern bits

whitev70r 08-14-2024 06:28 AM

Ah Marine Dr, now I know why the the back of house is feature picture. $30M but you have to wait 5 mins to exit your driveway because of traffic, especially when UBC is in session.

If I had that kind of $$, buy a $10M mansion with a view on the North Shore, give $100K to the top 100 active member on RS (seed $$ for your dream car), and fill that $10M mansion's garage with 10 nice cars.

Damn, I'd be super happy with this, this is a steal at $8M with only $1700/mth maintenance (in Toronto, that's like a normal 3 bd condo main fee!), 2900 sqft home with 7 stall indoor garage. If I read it right, 4000 sqft terrace and balcony, spectacular view, great vibe neighbourhood. If I won the lottery, I'm making an apt to see realtor on this one. https://www.realtor.ca/real-estate/2...orth-vancouver

Wrong wrong wrong. For 30mil you can put a down payment on a 100 mil yacht which will then get immediately overshadowed by the 250-500mil yachts and then you will suicide in frustration. That’s capitalism at its finest. There is always someone richer and poorer than you.

Therefore it’s better to go out in a blaze of glory and excess.

You’re all invited to my cocaine & hooker boat once I retire.
I don’t know who can procure knife fighting monkeys but that’s a requirement for my ideal retirement party.

Here you go, I found this place the other day. You can't even see the house in the drone shot until you know what you're looking for.

^ What's up with the quotes from that realtor write-up???

"A deep well supplies untreated water, rich in natural minerals. Your estate represents more than just a property; it stands as a dedication to sustainable living—a sanctuary where...you can find yourself."

That dramatic pause lol

My god the amount of upkeep you'd need to do on that place would be insane.

What kinda yee haw is that, the rooms are all triangles and awkward as fuck

It lacks the 'wow' factor for $30 million, unless you're into the old, heritage home look. I'd rather buy a lot for around $10 million and build my own dream home.

Speaking of garages, someone I know completed their dream home a few months ago and built one of the nicest man caves/garages I've seen locally. The house itself is incredible, but the garage is on another level.

I'm with you on this one: if/when we move back to Vancouver I wouldn't think twice about living in North Van.

I wonder if living in such a nice place screws up your life.

I look at that terrace, with that view, and it's way nicer than the outdoor patio of almost any restaurant I've ever been. The interior is nicer than at the St. Regis.

Basically, upon living in a home like this, does going out just result in disappointment? Is there such a thing as being treated to luxury anymore, when everywhere you go can only be lesser than your everyday experience?
