Please, enlighten us as to why.

I would greatly appreciate insight into your definitive, mathematical summarization of the last twenty-eight pages.

b/c growth, huge technological advancements, and ability to generate growth through decreased debt costs/pumping money into the system - many of which we've tapped out

the easy money was made by baby boomers - now we have much more competition, it will be a lot of hard work for current generations.

i'm not afraid of smart work (i don't like hard work)

A garage, no. A small house, yes.

The closest thing you can do to that is to build the equivalent of a carriage house.

I think it was a tiny House documentary I was watching where a guy bought some land in Hawaii and I think he only built a garage on the excuse of funding the house in the future. He just lived in the garage when he vacationed there.. it had a bathroom and all.

I want to find the cheapest loop hole to live on a plot of land.
It would need the following
1 land under $50,000 (even if its as far as Mission)
2 water and electricity
3 possible sewage, but not a necessity.

I want to build a few rooms on trailers to by pass taxes and other building charges.

WikiHouse Ascot House

But I guess I would need some kind of structure to have electricity hooked up... can I build a garage only, have the electricity hooked up to it but not live in it?

One probably cant live in an RV and trailer room combos either, but Im thinking no one would check.

Would the carriage house be legal and the only alternative? Being a cheap plot of land, it may be away from larger neighborhoods and not need a set/approved design structure to fit in with the rest of the houses?

I love people that spew off BS and act like real estate moguls/gurus but get owned when it comes time to have an intellectual discussion on the matter.

The least expensive option, I believe, would be a lot and a mobile home, and a detached garage. It would be quite inexpensive, legal, and potentially quite nice. Mobile homes can be had quite inexpesively, either new or secondhand, and are surpisingly nice. A detached garage is inexpensive to build, but there are also prefab options like a kwanset. Living in trailers and such isn't a terribly viable option, because they're not designed for year round living and require adaptation. A carriage house is the closest legal possibility to your description, but more expensive than a mobile home since it requires footings and a foundation. Community design plans aren't an issue in rural areas.

That said, I don't think you'll find a lot for $50k. In Mission the majority of lots cost between $100-175k.

Any incorporated town even Hope, you will need to pass inspection and zoning regulations for any building because it is they are liable too if something bad happen to your building. You can have only a garage if it is commercial.

That's before you connecting to the mains for water and electricity.

If you want to avoid inspection etc.. get a place with a well to an aquifer and live off the grid. Places like Pritchard.. 100 Mile House etc etc. or buy an RV.

All the municipalities will be in town this week at the Convention Centre.. you can go and ask them all in one go.. your tax $ at work.

Im looking far into the future to do something like this and get into the regulation details then unless I can get investment in this land yacht idea... or even better, a cooperative land sharing setup.. almost like an RV park.

Electricity and water are a must... even internet hookup unless satellite ones arent too expensive.

So no garages only in a residential... that leaves getting these carriage house only. It would be good to set it up and rent it out and also live in the RV setup.

That house I first posted is easily CNC cut with ply-wood (super cheap yet strong) and put together like a 3D puzzle... its also structurally tested. http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m6...tljo1_1280.jpg

These prefabs are a pretty nice and clean design.

So does this!
