Tried out the timelapse setting this morning. Video is 30fps at 10 seconds per image. Was done over a 2 hour span. Started with a full charge, battery died by the time I checked it 2 hours later
I picked up the hero 3 black on Black Friday, any must have accessories for traveling?
I've only ever played around with my buddies first gen go pro, is the iPhone app more than adequate as a view finder or is that back viewing screen a must have? Posted via RS Mobile

The LCD screen will kill your battery. The app is great, use it to compose, and then turn if off.
Best bang for the buck, I find these the best accessories.
$10 Ikea kitchen timer - Great for large landscape timelapses
$26 Spare batteries from Wasabi. Buy them from amazon.com. The wall charger is convenient.
$40 GoPole. A bit pricey, but its great for selfie camera angles when doing sports, diving, or just reaching above a crowd. It floats so that is a big bonus.
They have a collapsable pole that they started selling this year called the gopole reach. I bought one in February and it broke on the 1st day I used it. Really poorly made but I think it was from the first batch. I recently shot them a message about it breaking and they sent me a brand new one and even paid for shipping. Haven't used the new one I got yet but I'm hoping it holds up better than the 1st one I had. It's not cheap for a pole, but their customer service is great and they provide a lifetime warranty.
I use an XS extendable pole that I bought at comor. Even more pricey at 50 bucks. But the bonus of it is that it also has a tripod screw hole on the bottom which means you can use it in some pretty interesting ways.
For example for some slow motion vehicle rig shots, the pole can be used in conjuction with a suction cup mount.
I'll post a couple of interesting rigs I have done to get some neat angles tomorrow.
Oh the egg timer tip is a great one, a long with a slider or just by itself you can get some awesome stuff.
looking to get a go pro for travelling next year. will used for video and pictures where we won't want to take the DSLR
so either hero 3 black, hero 3+ black or hero 3+ silver....thoughts?
Whichever one you choose, get the Black editions. Between the 3 and the 3+, the + is a bit smaller, wifi is a bit faster. I don't think there is a big enough difference to justify the price difference between them, I'd just get a 3 and spend the money you saved on mounts.

how is the go pro 3+, and longterm use reviews? looking to pick one up however been reading a lot of negative review regarding it freezing, malfunction etc has that been fixed yet?
Will be doing a lot of low light shooting something like nightclub/ concert setting. Should I go for the black or is that overkilled?
Just got back from a trip to Tahiti and Bora Bora. Took over 128GB of content with the GoPro. Such a pleasure to use. I brought it out and used it in situations I would never dreamed of using my DSLR.
