The GoPro Thread

Just got one of these. Any other GoPro users here that want to show off some of their work?

I bought one for fun and to use as a secondary camera for video shoots when they finally come out with the protune firmware upgrade that allows 35mbps and 24p.

I wish I had it during my trip to the Caribbean...having it while playing with stingrays in the Grand Cayman would've been awesome.

Just wondering. Small talk.
I would like to see what it is like but I do not have OSX 10.6
I'd still use Premiere Pro and After Effects even if I had CineForm but I just wanted to see what its all about.

Hero 3 announced. Black Edition with 4K (albeit at a lame 15FPS) with 2.7K (30FPS), 1080p, etc. $399.

Silver edition is the same as the Hero 2 with WiFi. $299.

White is the basic edition with a 5MP sensor and WiFi at $199.

Expect those prices to be $50 more in Canada.

I always though GoPro were wayy too bulky for their usage
this one looks really appealing

I'll wait until next year when they are trying to clear these out...I doubt I'll need 4K 30fps+ :P

I waaaaaaaant the new Black Edition. Mind you, I want that 4k resolution to be shot at a higher frame rate, so maybe I'll just wait for the Hero4 to come out.

Some impressive stats on the Black Edition, though. Especially when you consider that it produces better footage than some prosumer cameras out there at 10x the price.

Yeah, skipping this one but that Black Edition shows GoPro is thinking of the videographer market that uses these things for B-roll.

Shouldn't cost too much to upgrade if you are able to sell off your old one. Hmm, wifi remote...

I dunno. I may still pick one of these up. I don't have a camera capable of filming at slow speed (all of my slow motion shots are done in post production with After Effects) and that 720p120 option is very gently, yet firmly calling my name right now. As much as I hate to say it, the 4k mode is pretty pointless right now, especially for me... so it's not that much of a deal breaker.

Wonder how long it'll be before we start seeing 5k on these things...

honestly imo gopro's really arent all they are cracked up to be, specifically using helmet mounts

the lack of any sort of viewing screen is the kicker for me and why i wont buy one, when you use a helmet mount it's almost impossible to tell where you are aiming, and i've ruined absolutely amazing footage because the camera was not aimed properly

for static mounts and things that are securely mounted, as well as the hand held pole they work pretty good, but for your average user helmet mounts are a huge fucking let down, especially when you ride somthing all day get back and realize your shit was aimed poorly all day

EDIT* and the Chesty is even worse for power/action sports, that shit isnt made for anything but walking seemingly
