how do you guys secure the car to the bottom of aftermarket display cases. Do any of you guys display your diecast naked without any case? how do you guys deal with dust and pet hair etc. |
Quote:
I do not display the models naked at all. Either they go in the "dust sealed" display case (dust still gets in but not much), or they go in storage in plastic boxes or they go back in their original clam shell box. Cleaning off dust is hard once its caked onto the plastic windows. Air compressor won't work and you will have to use a microfibre cloth to wipe it. And no matter how gentle you are there will be swirl marks that's unavoidable. |
4 Attachment(s) Ignition's keiichi tsuchiya ae86, only 180 were made and was sold out flat in 40 secs (as well as their website crashed) Even has kt signature lol Source: 7tune fb page |
Autoart 1/18 Rocket Bunny 86. This was a preorder I made back last September with Toronoto Motorsports. It arrived a week ago but only had time to open it now. This is my first composite Autoart. Have mixed feelings about it. Feels like a toy. Has no weight to it. Only the doors open, but flimsy. Driver's door hinge is already sagging. Hood and trunk do not open like the old stock diecast version. But being composite, the detailing is much better than most diecasts. Wheels turn and steer. There is some camber and stance is good. Paint has nice metal flake in it. https://scontent-lax3-2.xx.fbcdn.net...86&oe=59A54F86 https://scontent-lax3-2.xx.fbcdn.net...92&oe=59E68E9A https://scontent-lax3-2.xx.fbcdn.net...fd&oe=59E705FA https://scontent-lax3-2.xx.fbcdn.net...fb&oe=59BBF106 https://scontent-lax3-2.xx.fbcdn.net...9d&oe=59B9AC3B |
https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0...45&oe=59E7F512 finally bothered to buy the wangan midnight blackbird to go with my Z. wished the blackbird was a 964 turbo though... oh well. as with all autoart 911's its a beautiful model. no complaints. may painting the wheels gold will make it stand out a bit. |
^ damn.. how much did that set you back? I feel like I don't have enough cash to commit to another collection... still kinda hoping for a sale on a BBR/MR LaFerrari, took a look at the Bburago version... bought it and returned it LOL... just cant do it hahaha.... (or if the hot wheels elite version ever comes up again)... and need to find a 288GTO to round out my prancing horse collection |

1/18 Toyota Celica TA64 Rally Group B by Ottomobile Hi Everyone! I would like to present to you one of Ottomobile's most recently released rally car the Toyota Celica TA64 Rally Group B in 1/18 scale. I recently received this wonderful model from Otto (now belongs to Tofu), and it brings back memories of the 1/12 scale R/C kit that was produced by Tamiya back in 1987. A very expensive Tamiya R/C kit that was very realistic. This kit is very sought after R/C car these days. https://www.tamiyaclub.com/tcimages/...09203541_1.jpg A little history (taken from Tamiya Club site) The Toyota Celica Twin-Cam Turbo was the product of one of the most exciting phases of rallying, when the World Rally Championship adopted its Group B regulations between 1983 and 1986. It proved a powerful contender and its dominance of the Safari and Ivory Coast Rallies earned it the nick-name 'King of Africa'. https://www.tamiyaclub.com/tcimages/...09203541_7.jpg The rules required car manufacturers to produce and sell 200 units of a model in order for it to achieve homologation for the new formula. Working in conjunction with Toyota Team Europe, Toyota devised a plan to build 200 road cars, 20 'evolutionary' versions for rallying and a powerful new engine. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...a8e8698e41.jpg Some rival manufacturers opted for four-wheel drive, but the Celica Twin-Cam Turbo retained a rear-wheel drive powertrain. The 2.1-litre engine could produce up to 380bhp, making the TA64 one of the most powerful two-wheel drive rally cars ever built. https://www.tamiyaclub.com/tcimages/...9203541_10.jpg About the Model: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/d2...=w1280-h854-no The model is not packed in the typical crappy foam clam shell like most Otto cars are packed in. Instead, the model is screwed securely like the way GT Spirit packs their models. The car's antenna along with some Marlboro decals are securely place in a cavity between the model and the foam packaging. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/zQ...=w1280-h854-no In my opinion, this has to be one of best rally car that Ottomobile have produced. The shape of the car has been faithfully reproduced by Otto. From the lights and front roll bar, there are lots of details that Otto has placed. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/V3...=w1280-h854-no The interior features PE racing harness for driver and navigator seats, and the dashboard is nicely painted and decorated. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/hL...=w1280-h854-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/El...=w1280-h854-no A few things that I was disappointed in are the side windows (Printed on), hood pins are flat decals, and you can see the red underneath the white decals on the driver side and passenger doors. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/dN...=w1280-h854-no Overall, Ottomobile did a great job reproducing one of legendary cars from Toyota's racing heritage. Otto produce only 1500 samples of this model and they are completely sold out. I wonder if Tofu will add some weathering to make it even more real???? I hope you enjoy the pictures and comments are welcomed. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/i7...=w1280-h854-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/JI...=w1280-h854-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/2Z...=w1280-h854-no Happy Collecting William |
