Quick question: How do you guys store or display your Hot Wheels? My DIY display couldn't handle the weight of the cars and now they are stacked on my desk.

thumper 03-25-2017 05:29 AM

are yours still in their packaging?

Yes. I can't commit to opening them...

thumper 03-25-2017 07:37 AM

me too and that's a problem... everything i see ends up being for unpackaged stuff.

eg. the Lamley Group: Because you asked, here is what I use to store and display my collection...

My two most recent additions.

Finally got my hands on a white/blue AutoArt MC12, has a couple issues but the price was right.

Also got a white/blue AutoArt P1.

^ how is the resin model P1, is it actually a lot of plastic? or is it still essentially a die-cast car with a bit more plastic parts than last autoart models

The P1 is a composite model. The base is metal, but all the rest of the car is plastic. I have seen it in person, and it is very light and flimsy. It's fine to display but really lacks the feel of a collector "diecast". IMO, it feels more like a toy.

Other than the wing supports being metal the car is all plastic/resin. So with the combination of being a composite model and a matte white finish it doesn't feel quite right when you pick the model up. It almost feels like a model that you would build yourself with some weights added in.
If I didn't have a personal connection to a similarly spec'd white on blue 1:1 P1 I probably would have saved some money and bought a TSM version.

Someone needs to tell that guy they're not worth eBay prices if they don't have boxes (more than half appear not to).
