Can a mod change the thread title to, "Official GVRD Special Events Thread?" So many things to do around the GVRD. For example, the annual Burnaby Trunk Sale was today. 9:00 - 2:00 Every weekend there is the Farmers Market located at Burnaby City Hall. 9:00 to 2:00 as well. Richmond and North Van Shipyards Night Market. No Surrey Night Market this year. http://www.northshoregreenmarkets.com/shipyards.html YVR Food Fest - Canada Day Weekend http://www.yvrfoodfest.com Greek Fest http://vancouvergreeksummerfest.com Powell Street Festival http://www.powellstreetfestival.com Steveston Salmon Fest http://stevestonsalmonfest.ca New West Hyack Festival https://www.hyackfestival.com There are too many to list in one post. There's something going on every weekend. No fun city............. yeah, right. |
Shit, almost forgot. Eyetalian Day on the Drive tomollow. My neighbourhood in North Burnaby gonna be empty. |
July 29th and August 20th, there's the Columbia Streat Food Truck Festival. Starts at 4pm, ends at 10. |
Damn, I'm all over food trucks....... thanks, Inaii. |
I didn't know Burnaby had a farmer's market. |
It's not huge by any means, but very clean and what's a good word........... civilized. Yesterday was the third week. Not a place for bargain hunters, just really good local produce and whatnot. That's probably why it was a good experience. No loud C-Lai's to be seen, or more precisely, heard. It's on one side of the Municipal parking lot, so there is parking right there. I went at around 10:15 and found parking right away. 30 minutes of browsing and you're on your way. |
That's the one in behind Bill Copeland right? I've always wanted to check it out, but I work saturdays and I don't think my boss would appreciate me stopping by with the lordco truck to see what's there :lol And np about the food truck thing! I only know about it because one of my friends is going and I saw it pop up on facebook. I'm glad they made it start at 4, because we use Columbia quite often when we deliver parts down there, so it would have been a huge hassle for us. I'm probably gonna go after work and check it out, though I'm not sure where there would be parking. |
i find the local farmers markets produce and eggs to be pretty meh to garbage. And i've bought quite a bit from them both Nat Bailey and the winter PNE one |
Just got back from the Food Truck event............ had a good time. Will be back next year, for sure. Food was meh, but just seeing close to 100 food trucks was neat. Next - going to food truck city, Portland, on my way to see the total eclipse on the 21st of August. |

Go to the Sole Foods stall. Their sungold tomatoes, and greens mix I'd literally say are some of the best in the world. The tomatoes are fucking astonishing. |
Two weeks ago, I went to the Trout Lake Farmer's Market. I was expecting to find crappy, overpriced produce. I was pleasantly surprised. More expensive, but totally worth the price. I don't think I can buy the crap from Superstore anymore, lol. And, actually buying from and speaking with the people who actually grow the produce. Some of them are so proud of their produce. Organic and picked that morning. Can't beat that. |
I've been spending much more on my vegetables, and buying smaller, cheaper cuts of the best local beef, chicken or pork. Its definitely helping my overall feeling. Cost is about the same or a bit more when you account for the proteins. If there is one thing that you should spend money on, its what determines how your body actually functions. |
Korean heritage festival coming up at Burnaby central Park Aug 5 And of course, Powell street Japanese festival Aug 5 and 6 Will be a nice long weekend |
Japanese bazaar at Nikkei Place today. Also, lunch at Hi Genki is icing on the cake. |
Italian Day on the Drive. June 10th this year. |
