Yep.
Belostomatidae - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Don't let 'em bite you. It's apparently painful, but harmless.

known as giant water bugs or colloquially as toe-biters

...

Giant water bugs are a popular food in Thailand.

...

In various parts of southeast Asia, the species Lethocerus indicus is used as food, or as a source of extracts.

I've seen them before, kinda freaky but no biggie.

I will toss in a $20 if you eat it and video tape it, who else is down?

punkwax 11-05-2012 09:57 AM

Thats a june bug....pretty common here.

I was in California years ago at an outlet mall. It was 'june bug' season...thousands flock to this mall for some random reason and then die. Dead june bugs literally blanket the sidewalks.

Freaked me out.
