It'll look like ass unless you get it fixed professionally.

Damage looks to be on at least two panels. My limited knowledge of automotive repair tells me they may have to repaint some of the panels around it as well so the automotive painter can blend the new paint with the original.

I think I'm going to go around to get a few quotes and if it's too expensive for me then I'll just use some touch-up paint and primer and live with it.

Fixed it at FasTrack Autobody, would suggest going in to getting an estimate done. Can't hurt since they're free.
How much did your repair cost?

you drive a BMW, and are complaining about the cost to repair it properly?

Have you even tried to get an estimate from a reputable shop yet?

Gawd dayum...he starting to sound like a broken record...every reply has been telling him he's got no choice but to get a free estimate and fix it properly...it's a BMW.
Just ask your mother to pay for it and never let ur sister drive it again.

you should definitely get an estimate soon just to know the ballpark on fixing the car.

in the mean time, go get some touch up paint from the dealer, clean the scratched up surface well, and apply the touch up paint. it well help for appearance and also rust protection.

This should hold you through the winter. Just in case (i hope not) there are any more oops'. Once spring time comes around, think more seriously about having the car properly repaired.

It shouldn't rust that quickly anyways. Even if it did - it would only be on the surface, and would be cleaned up if/when the panel is repaired/painted anyways. Most, if not all new vehicles have an e-coat applied to the inner and outer surface of panels to inhibit rust.

Good try, but do you like to read the news and take everything at point blank?

There is a difference between not being able to afford insurance and forgetting to buy insurance. If you read the actual thread, someone who knew the guy posted that the owner actually just forgot to purchase insurance. The news is notorious for sensationalistic reporting and attention grabbing headlines.

And, there is a big difference between someone being able to afford a 323i and a Aventador on price, maintenance, depreciation, and gas. If you can afford a Lamborghini you are already in an exclusive class, not to mention this is an Aventador (LP700). I had a 2007 323i back in the day and I recall paying over 44,000. They can be had today used for under 15k. Go check your local lambo dealer pricing and that's probably the cost of an oil change

personally I think the "forgot to buy insurance" is a cover up. the Lamborghini dealership would have surely offered to sell that guy insurance on the spot, at time of vehicle delivery.

to the OP, get some quotes they're free. make your sister pay the repairs, or at least majority of it (60%+).

I doubt local or provincial laws even allow one to drive the car off the lot without insurance. The dealer might even be held liable if there is an accident.

Like MB pointed out, probably a renewal.

^I missed your sarcasm - can be difficult to detect without facial expressions.

I agree, it goes both ways for both rich and poor: generous and cheap.

Honestly, I think the repair here is going to be around ~$1000 so it isn't going to break the bank and if you choose to drive a BMW, you should be able to afford it or why buy one in the first place?

doesn't insurance typically last you a year?

Aventador hasn't been in town for that long yet

You don't have to buy a full year. Might not be the same at every dealer, but I've purchased 3 day insurance before and then driven off the lot.

-1-15 days
-3-7 months
-8-11 months
-1 year.
