To me, it was never in our generation to be able to colonize Mars. So it was pretty neat and amazing to read that it is possible to do this in our generation. I don't know if this is bs or not, but its pretty freaking sweet to be paid for training and to go live up in Mars!

I believe it because I trust the source, mashable. Unless they are part of a huge viral marketing plan from this said movie, then I don't know. But I'm sure mankind also said it was impossible to land on the moon. Posted via RS Mobile |

While it does seem a little far fetched, this is apparently a legit mission. Been doing some reading through various trusted sites and they all seem to repeat the following: Mars One: Yes, Bas Lansdorp Really Does Want To Send People To Mars By 2023 - Business Insider
Personally I don't think anything will ever come of this, considering how much money they need to raise, but it's certainly a novel idea. It would be great if they could get a major corporation behind them (ie: SpaceX) or even government-funded entities like NASA, JAXA, ESA, or even CNSA.

it's way closer. you could constantly send supplies to make it habitable. | i would imagine the less supplies they have to send up the better. IIRC, Luna has an atmosphere that is unhabitable when compared to Mars, but then, I guess everything is in some sort of contained dome so not sure if that is even relevant.
secondly, i would imagine a source of water would be needed. they are guessing that somewhere deep in Mars, there may be water left. but definitely at the temperatures on the surface, water simply can't exist on the surface.
