I kind of feel bad for her parents. They're going to blame themselves for letting her go on vacation.
Then again, what kind of parent would let their daughter with an unstable condition go alone?
Was she actually living in Vancouver at the time? Her Tumblr posts say otherwise:
"I just got my flightbook’d
Vancouver: Jan 18 - 22, San Diego: Jan 22 - 27
and the rest is to be written…"
As far as her parents not reporting the whole mental health picture, sometimes depending on when she was diagnosed, how much info would they have from anyone? If she was going for therapy, the therapist would not release any info to the parents if she was considered an adult already. Even if they did know, the traditional Asian person stigmatizes mental health disorders.
How would a parent control their daughter in that condition? Short of institutionalizing her when she was an adolescent, she's a grown woman now.
Her taking Wellbutrin and EFfexor at the same time, is not uncommon at all unfortunately, especially if she was suffering from anxiety disorder associated with her bi-polar disorder.

doctor's are very quick to prescribe anti depression pills and what not.
I've always thought like... doctors would have some... way of referring you to a psychologist or at least do some cognitive behavioural therapy or SOMETHING rather than going STRAIGHT to drugs.
but.. yeah, they just... shove drugs in your face. and for people that fully trust doctors... i feel sorry for them. they'll just start fuckin popping these SSRI's like they're at a rave.
except the rave is everyday life.
Exactly, especially when doctors are so heavily influenced by pharmaceutical companies.

Do GP's prescribe anti-depressants? Or do they send you to a Psychiatrist? I know that people get diagnosed with ADD/ADHD quite easily - but drugs such as Adderall probably don't have as many side effects as Bipolar medication.

I still believed she was possessed. Being mentally unstable means easier to be influenced by the spirit realm (enter same brain waves as spirits).
what. the . fuck? you serious? You think it is more likely she was possessed, rather than her just being mentally ill/depressed to the point where she committed suicide?

And the Police dogs should of picked up on her scent when they searched the roof when she was reported missing. Which tells me shes was put in the water tank afterwards.
Anyways this case is really interesting and odd at the same time. But im still gonna stick with the scenario that she was taken advantage of when she was on drugs or depressed by someone in the hotel(apparently she was being harrased by a mexican guy the night before cause she sent a friend a postcard telling her about it) and killed her, and eventually put her body in the watertank, but he must of had help doing it though
have you ever encountered someone that suffered from sever mental health issues? they are unpredictable. they cannot comprehend like "normal" people. No two people who suffer from the same diagnoses will display the same behaviours

I cant say that i have encountered someone with a sever mental health issue.
But what does that have to do with what u just quoted?
What BlueG2 was saying is, how Gnomes can believe that someone is "possessed" by a "spirit" which is impossible rather than being simply mentally ill.
That, but Rice pointed out how he didn't understand how she ended up naked in the water tank. I replied by saying that it wouldn't be surprising to hear about someone who was mentally ill, walking around naked, and then ending their own life. I thought her clothes and belongings were accounted for in her hotel room?

Well im assuming they werent accounted for because LAPD never said they were. The reason why i assume is because she was last seen wearing her purple sweater and shorts and thats what the LAPD said to look for when she did go missing. If she changed to into different clothes then the purple sweater should of been found in her room because she never left the hotel.(From what i read)
I never ruled out suicide being a possible scenario, but 3 factors for me rule it out. Her clothes not being found, The dogs not being able to pick up her scent on the roof the day she was reported missing, and if she did kill herself by drowning. Wouldnt the autopsy show that the COD was drowning? Im no expert but if someone can explain that to me, by all means
right!... cus everyone in revscene understands chinese

She was taking a LOT of drugs, they had to have known the situation.
And as for institutionalizing someone, you can do so if you think they are a danger to themselves or others. Based on her tumblr alone, you can probably come to the conclusion that she was suicidal for a very long time. In person, she must have been even worse.
I'm still not entirely convinced there was no foul play involved.
Okay, so she had a mental breakdown (obvious from the elevator vid) or was drugged out of her mind.
How/why did she close the lid? She looks incredibly small as well, is she strong enough to lift the hatchet to begin with? How come the police dogs didn't find her in the beginning? Someone has mentioned the tanks are filled with chlorine, can someone verify if chlorine might screw with the dogs nose? The alarm/lock on the roof is an obvious which many have already discussed. It'd just be so much easier for her to just jump off the roof if she wanted to end herself rather then die in a water tank.
Anyways guess we'll just have wait 6-8 weeks for those results.
