I'm not saying I'm doing everything right because I've made lots of mistakes along the way but if anyone is asking me for advice I'd say don't rush into anything. OP your posts IMO are usually pretty dumb but since you asked a serious question I'm giving you my serious opinion. Step back, take your time. Forget about rushing to start a family, take some time with whoever your lady friend is and make sure she's the one for you. Once you've established that go from there. I have plenty of friends who were in long term relationships at the same point in there life as you are now and they are no longer with that person.
I waited 7 years to propose and tried living with her for over half of that before hand. Didn't have the kid until year 10 into the relationship, probably a bit long but I'm not spontaneous at all and I wanted to make sure I was able to take care of him the way he deserved.

Anyways, your threads are always pretty entertaining so I suppose I can humour you with an answer.
I say just get the apartment.
You can't afford a house, you're going to have to pay for a wedding soon, you don't have any kids yet and when she leaves you and takes the apartment, it won't be such a huge loss.
Getting married and starting a family, eh? Seems like just yesterday......

If a 1 bedroom is what you can afford currently then thats all you can do. Better to rent then to buy a house in BC currently, IMO. A one bedroom is doable for 1 child. I'd say to move to somewhere further to get the space you need. Baby stuff is going to take up a lot of room. Plus, you're going to want some personal space as well. Good luck

1 bedroom apartment usually have a den. You can use that to make an extra bedroom for your ONE child.

buy a 1 bedroom and 1den apartment/condo. you can have your first kid live in the den until he's like 4 or 5, which is already pushing it. if you have a 2nd kid in between, you can throw his crib in your bedroom for the first 2 years or so. after that, you guys DEFINITELY have to move up to a bigger place. like a 2 bedroom apartment (kids can share the room) or townhouse.

I'm far from financially secure and have two kids. If you want to make it work you will. Your determination resourcefulness and perseverance have much more to do with makin a family work then a house or money do.
Would I raise my family in a one bedroom apt? Only if there was no other choice.

if your comfortable with having coitus while your newly born is in a cradle in the corner, possibly scaring them for life, then go for it. A 2 bedroom basement suite is like 200$ more and that will be a bit more permanent if you plan to have more then one kid. Bunk beds and such. I think kids growing up living in the same room adds a lot of personality and prepares them for the real world/college. I spent most of younger years in the same room as my bro and now I find it rather easy to share my space and possessions with siblings that grew up in separate rooms.

However, I'm afraid if you have to come to the interweb to ask such question then you and your gf aren't ready.
And get the parents to pay the mortgage? The fuck I don't even.... |

On a forum with Hyde and Marco911 you are one of the tackiest posters I've ever read.

Seriously then, why are you asking us? Just ask your parents!
