Hey guys, Not sure where to post this under so please move if needed Mods.
Lately I ve been wanting to get a home theater speaker system, was wondering if you guys could help me out a bit.
long time ago back when matrix came out. I was in this shop back in Asia and I absolutely love the way those speakers sound. it was sooo crisp when the shoot out happened at the building (
When it comes to audio, the first and most important question is: what kind of a budget are you looking to blow?
Given the same budget, audiophiles strongly prefer a quality stereo system over a multi-channel system, but with stereo only, you (obviously) lose out on multi-channel / positional audio aspect of things. But quality multi-channel systems cost an arm and a leg.
Skys the limit when it comes to home theatre. From couple hundred dollar home theatre in the box to full out theatre rooms.
Comes down to your budget is, the size of the room and the layout of the room.
Is it strictly for movies? Or music also? Hi-fi speakers and home theatre speakers are quite different.
JBL speakers are used in most actual theatres. So that might be something you'll want to consider. Just remember its always better to do things right once rather then keep upgrading. I'd start off with a good reciever + front towers first. Then sub, center then rears. If budget allows of course getting everything at once is better.
a couple of hundred is not going to it. You need a min of $500 to $1000 for a good system. The logitech Z-5500 to me is mostly bass and not that great for highs.

If you wanted to go LESS than that like in the 100-200ish range than anything is just as good tbh pick something that you like based on what you know even if its nothing
For a budget system, you can't do better than an Energy Take 5.1 system paired with a halfway decent receiver. My buddy has the Energy Take 5.1s hooked up to my 8 or 9 year old Marantz SR4500 and it's an awesome home theatre setup. It vastly outperforms my $5000 2 channel setup for movies.

Energy Take 5.1 is a great budget HTIB. Used to play with it all the time when i was working in FS Home Theater Dept. I think there is 2nd edition now. The price goes down to $399 when its on sale.

You can get them on eBay regularly from reputable sellers, sealed for $325ish including free shipping. We ordered one for my buddy and it worked out great.
Cheers
