It really is a nice looking bottle, however I believe that is the Duty-Free exclusive edition? It's about twice as expensive as the "regular" 17 year. Essentially paying for the bottle.
My friend has the same one, he says he's gonna fill it back up with another Hibiki when he finishes it.

And yes it is absolutely delicious! One of the best whiskeys I've ever had.

Pretty much. The only difference is the special drawings on the bottle but at twice the price.

Can't believe Crown Royal Northern Harvest is still OOS all across the lower mainland and they raised the prices too lol

I would still pay $33 for it. There is still nothing under $75 that has comparable quality.

I'm sorry, but you need to explore a bit more.

What do you guys think of alberta premium rye and dark horse? Anyone here like it?

Do you think this is a review or advertising, brain washing? Both videos?

I've met several American whisky afficionados who regularly travel up here for business and don't leave Canada without bringing a bottle of Alberta Premium home.

Do you have any suggestions? Would love to find some great whiskeys under $75.
Pretty much every whiskey that I've truly enjoyed hover around or well above the $100 mark.

The Balvenie 12 Doublewood comes to mind. Picked one up last month for around $80.

Correct me anyone if I'm wrong but it doesn't matter how long you let it sit at home whether open or unopen but the aging does not continue nor is there any benefit for leaving it.

Obsideon - To each their own, like many things totally subjective but I rather pay $65 for a Highland Park 12 over the Crown any day of the week just as one example. I've said it over and over again in the past but the Crown Harvest is fantastic at that price and I will continue to drink it if I can get it at that price but nothing more.

Aged in the barrel is understandable to aged in a bottle? I never really understood that but I have heard of people supporting that claim too.

You are bang on! The Balvenie 12 Doublewood is absolutely DELICIOUS and has been my go-to sipper for the last 3 years! Infact I love the entire Balvenie line, by far my favourite company for whiskey.

However it is listed as $90.99 at BC Liquor stores which is over the $75 price range I mentioned in my earlier post.

I still haven't (not sure I ever will) developed the palette for such a strong peaty whiskey yet.
Yeah the preference is totally subjective, but I do stand by my point that for $32.99 (3 bucks more than before) it is still one of if not THE best whiskey bang for buck. If they jacked up the price to $50+ then I will have to reconsider and most likely stick to my beloved Balvenie lol.

When I walk to my whiskey cupboard at night with the Balvenie 12 and CR Northern Harvest sitting side by side I do tend to reach for the Balvenie much more often though lol, but then seeing it at the liquor store and realizing I can buy almost THREE bottles of the Crown for 1 Balvenie ...

Just a quick insight, the whiskey itself doesn't quite age in the bottle. However, what CAN happen is that if you have happened to opened the bottle, poured out a small dram of it, then sealed the bottle and put it away for 10 years. Then.. the small amount of air trapped in the bottle will oxidize the whiskey, and more often than not, it will smooth-out any wrinkles or harshness "the bite" of the whiskey itself.

Hope that helped

I actually bought them all to flip. Family friends parents (like 90 years old) were clearing out there house and they've been sitting forever. I'm pretty sure most if not all are from Hong Kong since they have the distributor stickers on them. I'll try to post some pictures later
