Don't think I will ever like it.
For Duty-Free Whiskey, depends on which airport but they often carry some "Limited Editions", which would be a good pick-up. Personally I've been really into Asian whiskeys, the Kavalan Soloist might be a good one at the Beijing airport. | The moutai is an acquired taste, it kind of smells like chinese fermented cabbage believe it or not.
Awesome, I've been eyeing the Kavalan Soloist for a while, do you know which iteration is better? the sherry cask?

First time I took moutai, it was out of respect for an extended family member.
First and last time.

Both the Sherry cask and the Vinho are very very, very good!

[IMG] [/IMG] | I wouldn't worry too much about it, as long as you enjoy and find it delicious, then it's a winner. I am guessing that you looked around for the big names (Yamazaki/Hibiki), but since none were to be found; you then settled for these ones that you're unfamiliar with?

| LAGAVULIN KICKS OFF 200TH ANNIVERSARY WITH 8-YEAR-OLD WHISKY Lagavulin Kicks Off 200th Anniversary With 8-Year-Old Whisky | WhiskyCast
The whisky was matured primarily in ex-Bourbon casks, and is bottled at 48% ABV. It will be available starting at the distillery in late March, European retailers in April, and will carry a recommended retail price of $64.99 in the US when it goes on sale in early summer. Morgan noted that the whisky is intended to be priced lower than the flagship Lagavulin 16-year-old single malt in every market where possible, though retailers will generally have the final say on pricing. “We wanted the anniversary to be something that could be celebrated by as many people as possible,” Morgan said.

The "Macallan Rare Cask" display drew my attention but it's $400 so I picked up the Amber for $90 instead lol, big mistake. Way overpriced boring whiskey.

In Japan atm, went to about 6 liquor store and called around 12-13 shops.
Nobody has Any hibiki or yamazaki (as)
Airport had 2 hibiki 21 & yamazaki 18 (had to go to 3 duty free stops) for 50000 each.
I was told by a local store owner..some stores get 1 bottle yamazaki 18 a month only.
That said ana lounge at haneda had Hakushu 12 and was served hibiki harmony on ana.

Didn't recall seeing any at Paris' CDG airport. I saw a few Nikka ones (coffee malt) and a bottle of Hibiki Harmony. I thought about the Harmony but decided against it because I only saved like $10 after exchange

Hibiki 12 is pretty easy to find in Hong Kong, I haven't seen Yamazaki in years though, nor have I seen any 18 year bottles
