my 2010 2.0t gt was 37 after taxes, delivery, levies - and i was an employee. the markup on the genesis (at least on the first gen) is only about 2000 - makes it hard to haggle much. iirc the first gen 3.8gt was about 10k more than what my msrp was

You need to shop around and negotiate better. My 2.0T premium was 30 plus HST.

I hope you aren't thinking of getting the 8sp auto. My dad has one and and it would get stuck in neutral between shifts. We ended up with a new transmission. Its been a couple of months since and the transmission is acting up again. The 6sp auto in the old ones are ZF and are better.

BTW the brown manager at OpenRoad is a complete dick. We bought ours there only cause they were the only ones with the 2013 at the time (march 2012). The one in Coquitlam was the most courteous over the phone.

Lets not assume every 8spd auto will have issues. That would just be silly.

Woah, 8-speed tranny. I can't justify how it's even usable for city driving. Even highway, 6th gear is more than enough with our speed limits and such. I guess car manufacturers gotta develop technology to attract people to buy their products...

Drove a 2010 2.0T 6spd GT today, sort of impressed. I've driven a 2013 2.0T GT automatic before, and I'm surprised the previous generation 2.0T actually doesn't feel all that much slower, though the amount of lag in the previous engine is extremely noticeable compared to the newer engine.

Overall, I wouldn't mind owning one. It's large, comfy, doesn't exactly handle too well due to its weight and you can feel it too, but it's certainly liveable.

Never been a fan of plasticky interiors, but somehow Hyundai makes you overlook its cheap interior (previous generation GenCoupe).

hyundais really gets away with their interior designs.. they are very nice to look at .

but yes, the materials arent exactly the highest quality.

but props to them for making a decent looking interior and it actually showed some effort

We are on our second tranny, and its acting up too. The car is just over a year old. Maybe we are just that unlucky, but getting two bad transmissions in a row is pretty significant to us.

We had 3 Dodge Caravans before, and Dodge is known to be bad in terms of reliability. Only one had any really semi-major problems(leaking transmission at 60000km), but nothing that we would call dangerous on the road. The transmisson issue on the GenCoupe is what I would call dangerous.

I'm in no way knocking against Hyundai, just feel that their 8sp might just need a bit more R&D.

for the record, the material in the interior of the 2nd gen gc's are miles better than that of the first gen. softer tough leather, a lot more features, even the design of the cluster got miles better

I would assume every early production one will have this issue since it takes a bunch of people complaining for these issues to get noticed and fixed

Those koreans deff got the interior design down. Looks pretty classy

Yes, the 2nd gen GenCoupe interior quality is significantly better than the 1st gen. Pretty much all the plastic that was on the 1st gen is now soft-touch material/faux leather.

One thing I do feel is rather tacky and out of place are the three gauges in the centre stack. I've driven a 2013 2.0T and checking to see how much boost is running is rather dangerous, as they're mounted too low for easy viewing IMO. If they were higher up a la 350/370Z it would be much more effective.

I never look at them. Really out of sight for me when I'm driving.
