It's easy to say living in comfy Vancouver, but if you care about your families well being how do you justify staying in these fucking places

I'm curious if their insurance policy covers Tornado. I'd probably say No.

You can buy insurance to cover anything, anywhere, in any circumstance... in Tornado Alley though, twister coverage would probably cost you a fortune in premiums. It would be cheaper to just stuff the money in your mattress.

Until that mattress was torn from your house and swirled all over, spewing whatever money was stuffed in it.

^Loved that she didn't get all bent about it, though... and even that she said she wouldn't blame someone else for doing so.

New tornado hitting Oklahoma. Just heard on CNN the Dominator has lost its hood.

This is the Dominator as seen on the discovery show storm chasers.

Not to sound like a prick or anything but I can understand Canada helping out 2nd 3rd and especially 1st world country's when a natural disaster cripples them. In this case the US is fully capable to provide all the food/water and services needed to help their own people.

They should take that food and feed our homeless and Canadian citizens struggling rather then helping out hurricane victims that are fully aware of what they are getting them selves into by living there..

And I can see it now: natural disaster happens in Canada, thousands of people out of their homes without easy access to food and water... US does nothing to help... and then the cries go up about how insensitive and selfish Americans are for not helping their fellow man.

Three storm chasers killed in Oklahoma - CNN.com

Cole's Notes:

-3 storm chasers killed in the latest round of tornados
-They were from a company called "TWISTEX" (Tactical Weather Instrumented Sampling in Tornadoes Experiment)
-They were known to viewers of a former Discovery Channel show, "Storm Chasers"

Imagine you were born and raised in the area...all your family/friends network is living there...easier said than done to just drop everything and leave because of nature disaster as a sole reason...I bet you didn't have a problem when Japan received aid for the earthquake few years back....yet the residents there were fully aware of living with seismic activity all their life.

One can easily make the argument of panhandlers "knows what they are getting themselves into", drug use and mental illness aside, but that would be pointless.

In any case you know the money to aid may actually reach those in need whereas when you send money for relief to 3rd world countries who knows if scumbag gov't will eat it all.

I'm talking about natural disasters here and not the regular aid we give other countries that the people only get 5% of the funds actually donated which I agree with is a complete joke.

You can't compare Japan to what has been happening because it's a completely different situation with what happened by the earthquake and tsunami crippling the whole country and with the nuclear issues they were having as well. Looks at New Orleans, it's still a fucken mess down there and the US government doesn't even care and how long ago did Katrina hit?

I'm not say the people should move hell no but they key when living in the "tornado zone" during the season is being prepared and having a exit plan/safe zone which will help reduce casualty's. You have to remember you can see/tell when a tornado is going to touch down so you actually have time to react unlike a earthquake or even a Tsunami in some cases.

Canada is the greatest country in the world with how giving we are helping out and it makes me feel good being a Canadian citizen we are like that and such a unselfish country but it really seems like we are giving these other countries help when we are not focusing on our on home grown issues of poverty, long wait times with our medical system and the other issues the average person doesn't notice that happen around us on a regular basis.

El Reno tornado, at 2.6 miles across, was widest on record - U.S. News

The tornado that struck El Reno, Okla., on Friday night is believed to be the widest on record in the United States at 2.6 miles across, the National Weather Service reported on Tuesday.
The May 31 twister beat the previous record, a 2.5-mile wide storm that struck Hallam, Neb., on May 22, 2004.

2.5 miles. To put that into perspective, that would have covered all of downtown Vancouver.

Freakin' scary.
