94 burns slower, so if you have advanced timing, or a direct injection engine, giver. If it is stock, you are doing absolutely nothing except pouring money down the drain.

The Costco and Shell in PoCo have 91 that doesn't contain ethanol. As much as I'd rather run Chevron w/ Techron, the lack of ethanol is of more benefit, IMO.

BTW, we should be more concerned with the cost of diesel, since the it's reflected in pretty much everything we buy.

C5_Ryder 07-13-2013 09:53 PM

You will get better mileage with no ethanol gas. You Just have to
Calculate if the savings will offset your extra cost. 91 octane also contains no
Ethanol.

i believe only shell 91 has no ethanol. everywhere else contains up to 10% (i'm talking about vancouver/richmond etc)

Iceman-19 07-13-2013 11:42 PM

The internet contains 0% ethanol. Just food for thought.

Ferrari recommends Shell because Shell sponsors Ferrari.

BaoTurbo 07-14-2013 01:37 AM

I fuelled up at 144 and I thought that was expensive already. Lately I'm looking at close to 150

Timpo 07-14-2013 01:40 AM

ok so how much does it go up though?

like $2/L?

Ferrari also warranties their cars. If 91 oct was a problem they would have to do a lot of repairs. Absolutely no need for 94 on a stock car.

Ferrari also recommends shell oils and fluids. Shell Helix oil that is recommended is re-branded in the states and sold as Quaker state Q Horse Power. available at Wallmart.

Timpo 07-14-2013 02:52 AM

didnt ferrari recommend mobile 1?

nabs 07-14-2013 02:57 AM

My car manual says fill with premium only. So I fill 91. I filled today at 1.61 3/4 tank cost about 65 bucks. It definitely hurt! Regular was at 146.9. Later on at night it was 152.9. I'm glad I filled when I did

That used to be the case... but the shell near my house no longer has the no ethanol stickers at the pumps. I also asked the gas attendant and they said it may contain ethanol now.

You should check again. I doubt they would sell 2 different types of gas in the lower mainland.

Just checked Shell Canada's website and it says "Shell V-Power premium gasoline in Canada does not contain ethanol."

Shell V-PowerŪ Premium Gasoline - Canada

Click on the FAQ tab.

With the way gas prices are headed I think I'm going to need one of these.

which shell ? the one by maryhill or riverside or lougheed ?

and for you SHELL (airmile) user, do you guys take advantage of the once a month 50 pt promo on filling up premium gas ?? Is it worth it ?
my car consume reg gas but i always spent 50 bucks on premium whenever i see the promo, never really do any calculation... just thought the point might be worth it

z3german 07-15-2013 07:16 AM

guy at the dyno told me putting 94 is worse for most dyno runs because at the rate it sells at.

91 or even 89 can yield better results just because its "more fresh", but I have no clue, made sense to me! Saves me a couple of bucks at the pump.
