yes..another delicious gas prices thread for 2013...

I believe around town its already at 1.50/L reg effective this morning...but this time it might be a larger spike upwards.

Gas guzzlers, be warned: You're in for a whopper of a price jump at the pump.

Prices of oil and gasoline futures have increased sharply in July, according to Gasbuddy.com chief oil analyst Tom Kloza. And these prices will inevitably be passed on to consumers in the coming weeks.

The price of unleaded gasoline could jump by at least 25 cents per gallon in August, said oil trader Dan Dicker, author of "Oil's Endless Bid."

In the last two weeks, gas futures jumped to $3.01 per gallon, an increase of more than 10%. And oil prices have surged more than 10% over the last month.


At the same time, Kloza notes that the price of retail gas "has barely moved." But he does expect gas prices to follow suit, surging by as much as 30 cents a gallon in August.

The national average price for regular unleaded gasoline rose 1.7 cents per gallon on Thursday, to $3.52 per gallon, according to the motorist group AAA. That day-to-day bump may just be the start of a larger run up.

Dicker said the energy markets are being driven by a geopolitical "fear factor" over turmoil in oil-producing countries like Egypt, Syria, Iraq and Brazil.

Also, he said the decline in gold prices has prompted investors to turn to oil, exasperating the energy boom.

"Gold just fell apart," he said. "Hedge funds and traders, they've put their money in the oil market. Crude oil has become the new gold." To top of page

Just filled up my parents F150 this morning for them... $206.32 (dead empty 136 liter tank...)

You'd think that the government would invest more carbon tax revenues in transit, instead of hawking Bollywood film awards and LNG.

Right now I only have a 50cc ruckus. I was looking to get a new DD but fuck that! 94 was 168.9 at the pump yesterday

Price of diesel is artificially raised to be close to gas.... Diesel doesn't need to be refined and it costs the same as gas....

I was totally shocked this AM when I saw the 151.x price at the gas station. My car had less than 1/2 a tank yesterday, and I actually decided against filling up because I figured it would still last me another few days. :failed:

Support the Vancouver Bike Lane now and start pedalling to work ! or buy a $1.5 million house in Kits that's beside the Bike Lane

Fuck! Need to sell or trade in for s 4cyclinder or hybrid...

in all seriousness...not much the average Vancouverite can do .. I mean.. u still gotta drive... get from A to B...at the end of the day, we're all just gonna have to suck it up and pay up. SOme of us have the luxury of living near the US border and save close to 30% on a fill up.

it wont stop us from driving what we drive... like death and taxes - need for gas is up there too.
