Rolled out of my tent at 4, got back into Chilliwack at 5:45, showered, realized my bbq is still at the lake, threw a bunch of stuff into the 4Runner, got to Porteau Cove, realized my recovery gear is in my garage, ugh. So tired. It's going to be a steering with my knee so I can double fist red bulls kinda trip

PinoyDrifta 08-18-2013 06:58 AM

My wife took over 900 pics, these took long enough to upload: Elaho Revscene 2013 Photos by Zedbra | Photobucket

You'll have to thank her for me! Awesome pics. I can't imagine how long that took. I was angry at Photobucket and I uploaded 32...

The day started with Phil being too cool to air down with us:

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps5d228fff.jpg

Followed by spectacular BC scenery as to be expected:

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...psd5601eab.jpg

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...psce27085a.jpg

We stopped to take some pictures of the bee bridge of death:

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...psdfa24b6c.jpg

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps275d6583.jpg

Hundreds, maybe millions of bees made their home in/under/around that bridge and they weren't pleased that we were interrupting them. I think we managed to get away with only one sting (to the forehead) and the loss of our dignity from the bee avoidance/swatting dance that we were all doing. Our dance did not appease the bee gods so we carried on our way.

During a brief stop at a roadside waterfall I took this shot, in my sole attempt to be artsy rather than simply holding my blackberry out the window of my moving vehicle hoping the image stabilization was going to clear up my photos, of which sadly the bumpy road took it's toll on. I miss having such a photogenic vehicle:

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...psb2114de3.jpg

We eventually made it to Peaches and Cream Falls:

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps36dca85a.jpg

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps27eea6e9.jpg

Very refreshing regardless of the weather not really calling for a refreshing water spray. After the falls we headed down to a sandbar on the Elaho river to have some lunch. This was our first opportunity to really see some mud:

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps8f9a51b9.jpg

Down at the river we took some photos and fooled around a bit:

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...psb09c9c37.jpg

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps8be3a156.jpg

While the 4Runner, Cherokee, Frontier, AND CX-7 WUT went sailing, a documentary crew managed to get this prime shot of the Jeep Wrangler in it's natural habitat:

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps42051225.jpg

(and I don't mean a mall parking lot this time)

Brianrietta 08-18-2013 11:15 PM

BBC Nature also got this picture of the lurking Frontier (which means Lion in Swahili¹), waiting to pounce on it's unsuspecting prey:

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps6609dbdf.jpg

And how exciting, here we see it splashing around attempting to intimidate it's competition, the Toyota:

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps2cc3d026.jpg

The unflappable 4Runner is unfazed however:

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps8e09d3b2.jpg

¹ I don't care that that's not what Google Translate says, it's a real thing. Srsly.

Brianrietta 08-18-2013 11:26 PM

I'm reasonably certain that Phil gets stuck like this (maybe not quite like this) on a semi-regular basis but this time he had the misfortune to do it in front of a bunch of RS'ers with cameras:

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...psa33342d6.jpg

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps361504b1.jpg

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps2e0d73d7.jpg

Here we see Geoc's Jeep, I mean, Merc logging up:

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...psba5ee1c1.jpg

Eventually we settled down for some group photo action:

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...psfc95e4de.jpg

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...psf556318b.jpg

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps85390aae.jpg

Mine are mostly taken from such an angle that you can't see the fact that part of my passenger side fender flare is missing. Automotive myspace angles... At least there's no such thing as automotive duckface (too soon junior).

Brianrietta 08-18-2013 11:38 PM

Thank you, fourth grade teacher for ensuring that I know that this rare Muddin' ML Merc is alliteratively awesome:

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps59dfc7c2.jpg

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps858bfcac.jpg

This knight watches guard over some hidden away totem poles:

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...psd1ef55bd.jpg

On our way out we grabbed a few last shots, aired up at the trailhead (thank you, Jeeps for your gracious gift of air) and headed out after a fantastic 8 hours with some great trucks and some new friends. And also Phil.

Spoiler!

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps72049be7.jpg

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps49f4d07d.jpg

Thanks again PinoyD and Emtee for pushing for and putting this together. See you guys and hopefully a bunch of new faces out there again soon!

And now I'm going to pass out because I've been up for 21 hours.

Don't be too hard on Phil; this is actually pretty common for XJ guys. They see the Wranglers do it and get all sorts of delusions...

Great pics - love the commentary :fullofwin: Wish I could have made it!
