Photos: Trip to the Nurburgring... again

SO last month I went to Germany to visit family but I also stopped by the Nurburgring. Like 2 years ago I rented a race car again to take around the track.

This time I rented a Volkswagen Scirocco which was much faster than the Suzuki Swift that I had last time. If anyone's interested, Here's the review of the VW Scirocco

This was my race car

Also, a vid of what it felt like in the car going around "the Green Hell". I probably didn't set any lap records but it felt fast for me.

And now, some of the more exotic cars I saw that day, enjoy

This is a bit off topic but My website is coming up on it's first year anniversary and I would just like to know what everyone whose seen it thinks of it.

What are your thoughts on the layout? or the pictures I take? or most importantly, what are your thoughts on my Reviews?

Any feedback would be appreciated either good or bad. Tell me what I should change or keep the same.

Thanks

How long did you drive for? I can imagine it must be tiring after 2 laps.

twitchyzero 08-03-2013 04:13 PM

do you need a special road course license to run?
was passing pretty difficult/not allowed unless your on the straights with the tarmac being so narrow?
how much to rent the Scirocco? Was it modified?

This is definitely on top of a to-do list if I were to visit Germany again...if only I can afford the likes of renting a Exige/Caterham/Ariel Atom for a few hours :megusta::okay:

The company that I got it from has multiple options on how long you can rent a car for. I got it for half a day and it included a full tank of gas and 6 laps. (all inclusive package) For this particular car it cost me 750 Euros, they have other cars that range from 450 Euros to 1000+ Euros... so it all depends on how much money you have. And yes, I was tired after 2 laps, it's a demanding course.

Only a valid driving license is required. Passing is easy because the rule is that if you have a faster car behind you, you need to pull to the right side and signal to the right letting the person behind you know that it's ok to pass. yes the VW was modified with racing suspension, racing brakes, roll cage, 4 point harness, a few engine tweaks, and semi-slick tires.

Because it's a boring car with no road feel.

I had no idea this was an option, thanks vexor for putting this in my head

Definetly going on the bucket list.

skiiipi 08-05-2013 05:32 PM

This is on my bucket list for sure....
in fact in the next year or two
just wondering, how much does 1 need to save up to do a trip like this properly?
Flight, hotel, food, car for the ring etc
5K? 8k? 10k?

westopher 08-05-2013 06:09 PM

FUCK. I'm so jealous! Thanks for sharing photos, and also curious on what sort of budget this would require.

I'd say $5000 AT LEAST... I did save a bit of money because I have family in germany so no hotel expenses for me but for the car I go (half day, plus 6 laps, plus full tank of gas) was around $1000, flight is anywhere from $1500-$2500, hotel... I can only guess how much it would be, plus food, plus getting to the "Ring"... yea at least $5000

westopher 08-05-2013 07:03 PM

How the fuck am I going to convince my wife that this is what our honeymoon should be.:concentrate:

DO IT! Find a bunch of German castles/museums and shopping and other womanly shit she may like, then tell her you want to take her to Germany just for her! Then go to the 'ring. Simple eh? :)

westopher 08-05-2013 08:36 PM

This could actually be doable. I've also seen a place that rents track prepped e36s. It would be like driving my own car, but better.

IMHO:

Nice website...

Here are some suggestions which may or may not be what you want or want to change to:

1- Logo on top is too big (with the mirror image included). Too much white space on top of the logo and to the right of it.
2- Top navigation bar text a little too small.

Otherwise, looks very clean and functional and loads very quickly even with the pictures... so you could possibly put MORE pictures or LARGER ones...
