The weirdest one I’ve ever gotten was when I tried to cross with my maserati. The dude didn’t even look up and instantly gave me a piece of paper to take into secondary

Just crossed the border at 176th. Had to take a piss. Was going to hang on until Custer Rest Area. Look to the left and saw the McDonald’s. I’ve known about this location for quite some time (they opened in March), but never had a reason to go. Very nice restaurant. Not big, but very bright and modern. Me thinks this will be my go to when I cross too early.

I was speaking with an immigration lawyer for work to get advice on work travel visas.

Anyway, he was saying that border patrol placements have different hierarchies, and that YVR is the 'premium' posting for all the higher performing agents. And so there is a sense of professionalism, understanding of border laws, and pride with the YVR posts.

Meanwhile the road crossings are more on the bottom of the pile, with Sumas being where all the shittiest border patrol people get placed.

I went to Bellingham Walmart on Tuesday to check out their Vinyl Record selection. While there, I thought I'd check to see if the elusive, probably discontinued, Chocodiles were in stock. Nope none. Butt.............. I found something that looked familiar. It's a round version of the chocodile. They're called Mashups. Sure enough, they're just as funky as the Chocodile. Just had one right now. For those who don't know, Chocodiles are.....................

The nearest Shell would be in Ferndale. The one on Portal Way is still a Shell. I believe the one on Main Street is also still a Shell gas station. I drive through Ferndale every week on my way to Silver Grief Casino.

Daughter's passport expired and we were thinking of crossing the border in the next couple of weeks.

According to both the CBP and CBSA website, a birth certificate should be sufficient.

Just wondering if anyone on the forum here has crossed the border recently with kids and their birth certificates?

Holy sweaty balls on fire! There’s a Daiso in Bellingham! Was heading over to Harbor Freight and there it was. It’s where See’s Candy set up their shop during Xmas season a few years back.

Chick Fil A is trash, and they can take their gross god pandering and stick it up their ass too.. closed on Sunday to honour the lord... fuck off lol

Also this: Chick-fil-A has donated over $5 million, via the WinShape Foundation, to groups that oppose same-sex marriage.

Would never eat there.

While I don't care about their stance on the LGBTQ stuff (they're religious wackos, fuck em). I do agree with you about the food.

Their chicken sandwich is simply... alright. I never understood why people hype this place up so much, the chicken is bland as fuck, nothing special about it IMHO.

I'll take a Wendy's Spicy Chicken over a Chik-Fil-A Chicken Sandwich any day of the week.

Fight me.

yes i never found their food any good. It tasted dry and salty.

Chicken sandwiches regardless of the place are just trash food. I would much rather have a real piece of fried chicken. No need for the stinking bun.

While in Seattle, I checked out Taku.

https://visitseattle.org/seattle-loc...hota-nakajima/

Gotta admit, the chicken karaage was a bit of a disappointment. However, the pizza place he also runs is really good. There's pizza, then there's pizza, then there's Kobo pizza.

I will never whine about the roads in our neck of the woods again. Nevermind a pothole here or there, Seattle has to have the worst roads in the western hemisphere. Side roads are like cobblestone roads with most of the cobblestones missing. Off roading is smoother........... I was in the Capitol Hill neighbourhood. I got lost and turned onto a road that was full of potholes. Three blocks of going uphill in first gear. I thought I was going to lose a tire or damage the suspension. I make it to the top and turn onto a slightly better condition road. As I drive by the next half dozen intersections, the other roads were just as bad. Always a silver lining to each cloud.............. At least you don't have to turn your tires toward the curb or engage the hand brake when parking. The deep pothole will keep any car firmly in place, gulolol.

If that weren't enough, driving at night on I-5 is a daymare........... not one or two cars without tail lights on. Every tenth car. I pass them on the road and see that they don't even have their day time running lights on.......... then it dawned on me. It's probably not a requirement. These are late model cars. You can't see the cars coming or going............

I get it. Amuricans don't like the government telling them what to do - rules and regulations. Sometimes you need the government to tell the dumbasses what to do - protect them from themselves and from other like dumbasses.

I guess it's not just dumb Amuricans, we have our share of idiots. I was at the car wash on Boundary and Broadway. Line's not moving. Atendants are milling around this fancy SUV and talking to the driver.......... he didn't know how to turn off the auto wiper function, lol.

I wouldn't put merit on what your immigration lawyer is saying. While completing Immigration correspondence is more active in an airport setting than land crossings, that doesn't mean YVR is a good place to work.

I went on the long weekend and I observed the same thing in the real estate thread. Seattle has gone way downhill after covid and things are a lot worse than the last time I went through (2019)

Yup, it was definitely an eye opener. The last time I went was pre-Covid. Even then it was dark and grey. Another thing I noticed was the amount of garbage all over the sidewalks, freeway, empty lots, etc. Portland wasn't any better.

I guess it depends on what metric they're using to consider someone "higher performing" but all of my worst experiences with border agents have been at YVR. Meanwhile down at the Oroville crossing, which I'm guessing is a less desirable post, they're always the nicest and most helpful people you could ever meet.

So we're planning on taking the kid to Oregon Zoo, staying overnight in Portland.

How likely is it my car is going to get broken into? Fucking hotel wants $50 USD for valet, but I'm almost inclined seeing as the alternative is street parking.

MSM shows Portland as a shithole, while r/Portland says everything is fine...I suspect the answer is somewhere in the middle. Anyone been recently?
