For everyone that doesnt understand why BBM is better than whatsapp, you never had BBM back in its heyday.

If you use groups on whatsapp you are limited to 15 members. On BBM this increases to 30. Uncompressed picture sharing is only available if you email pictures or if you use BBM. Both MMS and whatsapp compress pictures.

BBM has proper Read message alerts. BBM lets you control who you add, no need to have peoples numbers, and it does not automatically add people who you do not want on your BBM.

This among much more. BBM is superior to whatsapp in every way. Its just a matter of time before everyone migrates back.

Got the e-mail saying that I'm at the front of the line, but still tells me they're holding my spot.

Have you gotten the email yet?

Or did you use the bypass method (maybe even accidentally).

It's actually 50 members for whatsapp lol. I don't like how you can't add pictures directly into chat though.

Not really racist! 10-22-2013 09:53 PM

I'm finding that iPhone users are taking forever to get their emails...couple friends been waiting a day and a half already....wtf

Oh well it was 15 when I tried a long time ago.

My other points still stand though.

The reports of this I have seen were from when someone tried to Bypass waiting for the email by force closing the app. In this scenario the app starts to behave in a very odd way.

The only way to successfully bypass the email waiting period, is to get someone who has a BBID and enter their information, then when prompted sign up for a new account.

The_Situation 10-23-2013 08:10 AM

lol ok now that i finally got the email, the app wont let me proceed to the next page. Stuck at the "front of the line" page.

knight604 10-23-2013 08:11 AM

I guess you got a bit of a Situation.

dachinesedude 10-23-2013 08:39 AM

Tr1ll 10-23-2013 08:41 AM

If you never owned a Blackberry in the past you just won't understand why people get so attached to BBM.

All you need is to enter an email addy of someone who has a BB ID. Click on "I've received the email". There's no code to enter.

On next page, click on create new BB ID, and you can put a different email address.

^+1 Ask a friend who has BBM (for their email) and you will be able to bypass with no problems. Just make sure you enter your own email instead on the official registration page.

Just a heads up I learned from work today. Apple released 7.0.3 to fix Imessaging..but..for some reason it will cause issues with BBM working on iPhone. BB gonna release a patch next week, so if you are a BBM user, you may not want to update to new os

Thats because the Font that BBM uses "HelveticaNeue-Italic" just so happened to be removed from the iphone in patch 7.0.3, no idea why which is causing bbm to crash. You would think they would only add fonts and not remove, along with the timing....

So, what's the bluray of messaging?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've had the app for a little over a day now, it's a working messaging system but certainly not like WhatsApp or iMessage. I hope WhatsApp will take the things BBM did right here and incorporate them into an update in the near future. I like knowing when and who is typing a message in a group chat.

I also like the idea of having a status change page to see what's going on, keeps me engaged.

There is very little customization options in this application and a few glitches... ie: pictures stalling when I try to send them.

Clearly iMessage - 35mm film reel

Alpine50 10-23-2013 05:51 PM

So I tried to get on it and right when I put in my e mail it said congrats :) so I'm finally on. Having absolutely no problems, I didn't update my iPhone though so maybe that's why, but everything worked right away, no problems with setting up. Took about 32 hours total lol

Apparently it's already been patched. There were already 2 updates for bbm on ios today. Latest is 1.0.2.114 or something.

meme405 10-23-2013 07:53 PM

Im digging it, my contacts list is picking up again. I think BB is opening the floodgates.

Only been hearing positive things. I just want everyone to finished transfering over from whatsapp so I can delete that app. :)

Agreed. Man this brings back high school memories. Scanning people's barcodes, posting up PINs on your facebook/twitter. :okay:

I had to wait almost two days to get an email from them. Got the email this morning. It's been pretty smooth so far. I wouldn't say its better than Whatsapp, but it's not bad either. :notbad:
