Where is ASR? - Warranty Required on Blackvue

Apologies if this is the wrong forum but need help in locating them for warranty on my Blackvue 380g-HD camera.

I bought the camera via Revscene last year with an install by Will. Back in August I was hit and run in front of Starbucks, my cam was on parking mode and should have caught the incident but unluckily due to my cam overheating the screen was purple and the video was useless. Went through ICBC, forked out the deductible and got my car fixed. After which I remembered the camera should still be under the 1 year warranty so contacted Will. Got a hold of him right before his trip to China - was not able to meet up to pass him my cam as I was also out of town on business. After that, been trying to contact him since but no reply.

- Their website: ASR Canada - Dash Camera| Vicovation | Otosaver has no contact information
- Follow up PMs on revscene have been left ignored although his last login was on the 11th
- Messaged ASR on Facebook a couple days ago and have not received a reply

Need to check my receipt for exact dates but I know my 1 year warranty is coming up and if I still can't get this done I'm stuck with a defective product...

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Ed

If you have instagram try and get a hold of him by commenting on one of his pictures (@artofspeedracingdotca). That's how I was able to get in contact with him cause he didn't reply my FB msg either.

I need to warranty my 380 as well, but I don't think I even got a receipt.

My camera's been acting up for a couple months now. :

He's been traveling around in China for about 1.5 months now. Best way to get ahold of him is through FB. (I suggest posting on his wall instead of messaging him)

One of the reasons why I chose FineVu over Blackvue is because of all the overheating issues I've heard about.

Same here, my finevu works great! Never had a problem in the heat, even when it was parked outside all day in the summer.

I've had a Blackvue 400 for quite a while now and all I can say is, IT SUCKS!!!

I can't even sell it, 'cause people know how unreliable it is. I'm sure the newer models are better, as they have worked out all the kinks, but holy crap.

As for businesses that disappear for weeks and months at a time and don't have legit addresses, I don't know.......... too late for some, I guess. I was going to buy from them because they are RS sponsors, but when I couldn't find the place, I knew right away to stay away.

I think Soundsgood carries Blackvue and Finevue. Gonna get mine from them. You know they are reliable. And they know how to install the damn things. Not sure if any of you remember, but when a dealer starts asking people how to hard wire shit, you know to stay away.

Just saiyan!!

What are the issues that you Blackvue users are experiencing which may be considered a defect/warranty item?

I've got a 380 as well... been over a year now since ASR installed it and no issues. I don't handle it daily... and will review the SD card maybe once a month to get some footage...and its hooked up to power magic.

I've had my 400-ii for about a year now, installed by ASR, and it's been fine.

Couple SD corruption issues but that's the card, not the camera.

I have the tf2+ and haven't had any issues yet. Had it running all day in parking mode in the hot summer and it hasn't overheated yet.

I'm surprised so many of you have had problems with the Blackvues.
I've sold so many and never had a comeback

Check footage from now and compare it to one of the very first you've saved.

In the heat, the Blackvue goes all fuzzy.

I've had to clean the sensor and the inside of the lens a few times. It fixes the problem.

Like I've said previously, I'm sure the issues have been addressed since the first few batches.

I currently have 3 running in 3 different cars of course. Other than having to clean the lens once every 3 months for the heat issue they work great. First one was purchased June 2012

*clean lens because the heat makes it foggy*

+1 My Blackvue DR 380G from ASR has been working great for over a year now. Also the same as you I remove the SD card once a month to check and see if everything is still recording and fine. Haven't had to clean the sensor yet, and no fogginess.

regardless of the qualities of the blackvue unit, the pressing issue here is the lack of customer service from this ASR fella.

whether he's busy in china or not, he needs to be appeasing customer's - do something, even if it's a "i'm in china right now, but you have my word I will provide you a replacement under warranty upon my return"

clearly this guy is a rookie businessman, and while he may be ok at installing camera units, he does not have appropriate levels of business acumen, namely customer service.

personally, i'd never deal with a company that showcases poor customer service, even if their price is lower. not worth the headaches, such as those encountered by OP.

best of luck OP - and perhaps a warning to all others dealing with ASR

Pull out the 4 black rubber plugs, remove screws, take apart plastic casing (be careful, just clips).

Take apart lens module from board (2 screws), clean both sides of lens with alcohol. Blow air from sensor; some people have used alcohol on the sensor as well, but i didn't.

It's pretty basic. Just don't lose anything.

It does void your warranty.

Thanks for the advice guys - I have put a message on their Facebook wall and hoping to get a reply soon. I only added them on FB a couple days ago and they accepted my friend request then (so I'm assuming they have access to Facebook)

I went with ASR as they were a vendor on the forum and there were a ton of great reviews back when there was the ASR product thread on here. I had the same great experience when he did the install, where he explained the product extensively. Therefore I am quite disappointed now that I'm looking for support - on a product they are authorized distributors and having to chase them down for months.

must suck to have a $200 dashcam die on you because of heat...you'd think in a warm place like Korea they'd make these things to be a bit more weather sensitive. So finevu and Dod are mroe reliable?
